City fan suffers broken leg after being attacked at Leeds game

Surely Soriano can’t go over Khaldoon’s head? If he has been, Khaldoon has the power to sort it. Surely.

Though my biased ignorance could be blinding reality.

People struggle with the difference between a Director's (capital D) role and that of management. The Directors are there (inter alia) to make sure the management are doing what the shareholder wants.

But how can they do that? By asking questions and getting answers in Board meetings and, in Khaldoon's case, during his trips to Manchester. But they have to rely on the information given to them.

On fan engagement, they don't have any contact with fans, they rely on information from the management. All those surveys with cleverly worded questions that get the answers they wanted. All the people on here saying a single price decrease is enough. Feed that to the Board and they will get the idea the fan base is happy.

The truth should have seeped through to Khaldoon at the end of last season and he should be monitoring fan engagement much more closely now if he and Mansour are serious in what they say. We should find out soon enough if they are. Realistically, though, he probably thinks issues are solved because fans are quiet on ticket prices again and Soriano tells him they are.

And it should seep through to the fans that the only way to get Soriano to do what is needed is to embarrass Mansour and Khaldoon. Protest for fuck's sake. And get an independent supporters trust set up to really represent the fan base.

The fans are being played by Soriano and something needs to change.

A very defensive response. They just seem to be totally reactive and never on the front foot. The message to fans has got to be one of reassurance such as:" We are appalled at what has happened and are taking steps to stop it happening again." Our comms has been a shit show for years.

…the only message is that they’re aware of the incident and working with police. Nothing else needs to be said.

The club claimed viagogo were only selling hospitality tickets but there were tickets for sale in GA areas, but with an offsite meal tagged on. So that was a lie from the club.

They've now seemingly lied about the injuries and potentially that it wasn't a Leeds fan involved. And if the guy was misbehaving then why was he moved from 107 into 93:20 and not ejected? It all screams they suspected he was an opposition fan or, at best, a belligerent neutral.

The North Korean media would be proud of this. The right response would have been to acknowledge the incident and the injuries and say that they'd be suspending all ticket sales via their authorised third-parties until a full investigation had been carried out.
Is that true? Moved from 107 to 93:20 lounge? Absolute joke if true and somebody should be held responsible. If I'm the injured party I'd be looking into legal action.

I can guarantee that at a club the size of Man City, there’s no way an inexperienced person posted that. They’ve simply misread the situation and chosen to protect the club their employer just as you said.

We have no way of knowing - but I would wager heavily that you’re wrong.

Think the clubs desired outcome is we all fuck off completely.

Fill it with tourists with half and half scarves who don't know which team they are "supporting".

City are actively doing me a service really. Saving me money in the long run by pissing me off more and more each week.
Your first line says it all about the modern world. ANY corporation just wants its dividends paid to shareholders and bonuses to it's directors. Why do I do self check out in a supermarket, wait online for hours to sort out my home broadband, buy insurance, or alter a name or seat on a holiday booking? THEY don't care that's why. IN most cases it's easy to buy stuff from them online but almost impossible to sort out any problems. More staff needed - not going to happen. In THEIR ideal world we really would just give them our money and get lost. Been coming to the Etihad for about 7 years (Me the wife and our lad) picking up tickets for games that don't sell out. He's joined a supporters club away at university and just got his first ticket for a big game. Nailed on future supporter at 19 but it seems like there are too many obstacles for him to become the regular he wants to be. Much as we've enjoyed the ride, even as mere Cityzens it gets harder every year so I don't suspect me and the wife will come much longer - but hey ho instead of us buying tickets they can be flogged for a much higher price.

It's a big security breach if corporate fans are going into general admission seats. Your point about belligerent neutrals is well made. I have seen lots of pissed up idiots in corporate areas. A lot of them don't support any club. The club should manage this area properly and safely for everyone there. This whole third party ticket situation is unacceptable. I thought it was being made illegal anyway.

Time to challenge the club now, protests or other methods.

This cannot continue, they’ve lied about ticket holders passing on tickets, and now this.

Ashamed that the club are lying
The buck stops with Billy Bullshitter and Soriano, so many people are duped by the end of season review, sycophants R us. They treat the traditional support like shit, short term thinking and and the awful match day expertise, F them.

They could only really say that though if they had any intention of doing something about it. Assuming that's not the case then they probably think it's just easier to gaslight us.

It would not surprise me in the least if it was Leeds fans. There were loads last time we spanked them on the pitch - no fewer than six of them near us had left by half time of that game and they weren't the sort that cause trouble even if they weren't silent about who they supported - they bemoaned their team's weakness.

It would not surprise me if this was so-called Blue on Blue either.

Sadly this kind of incident doesn't surprise me in the least - the way I have seen some fans talk to each other, and I have been on the end of it too. Most recently my first game back from having a heart attack last autumn was the bloody 0-4 v Tottenham. There was a nasty piece of work on our row (a Johnny Come Lately from Sheffield now less) who had a habit of being always negative and giving City players stick and abuse. He was at his worst in that Tottenham game. It was stressful to listen to especially given my health at the time. I managed to bite my tongue for 52 minutes until he abused Haaland and spewed more shite. Id had enough of the abuse and negativity towards City who were trying but just shite. I said "Why don't you go home? You're not enjoying it. " I got a volley of abuse. I said "Well, you're not a supporter. You haven't said one positive word to support the team all game." Not diplomatic i concede but the imbecile was appalling. It got worse and my Missus was concerned and I didn't engage after that but there were thinly veiled threats from him of somebody getting it. He was all talk and im not interested in scrapping but you can see how it kicks off. It"s not just City that has this problem.

Remember this club lie to the press.

It is understood that stewards moved in to remove the banner because it was covering an advertising board and part of the scoreboard, which City insist is against club policy, a point that has been relayed to all supporters' groups who bring banners to the stadium.

Exactly in the same spot, covering the same advertising board and scoreboard, which is against club policy.

What is against the directors personal policy is openly criticising the club in public, be it on BM, in the ground, or outside the ground. The directors don’t like it. And if they can do something about it, they will.

Last time Leeds came up there were 2 in front of us in 212. Waving to their mates in the away end and filming the away fans.

A few of us FOC's politely and impolitely suggested they should leave. However they weren't antagonising anybody. So I said to the steward "get these sheepshagging cunts out of here". He replied "how do you know they're Leeds fans?". So I said "they've got shit haircuts and dress like it's the 1980's. How much more evidence do you need?"

The fact people just looked on is fucking laughable. State of that. Seeing some poor fucker getting his head caved in and just stand there and watch. Fuck me.
Not everyone thinks the same in a situation like this, many will freeze as if in shock. They might not know what the cause was and who is who and are probably expecting police or security to turn up any second. I know a lot of people where this doesn’t make sense and will wade in to break things up, but they’re usually bigger fellers who have experience of looking after themselves.

The thing is even if you went to help or stop it once city get you mug shot and details you are getting banned.
Sadly, this is spot on. They wont bother to investigate the circumstances of your involvement, they'll simply identify you as being involved and give you an immediate ban.

You'll be allowed to plead your case, but you'll be banned whilst you do so, they'll be no easy way to communicate and everything will be an agonisingly slow process and only if you can provide overwhelming proof you are blameless,(which is unlikely) will you have the ban lifted. At best, you miss half a season with no compensation.

The whole match day experience nowadays feels like a multi-layered trap designed to bait as many regulars as possible into doing something that they can ban you for.

That's the strange thing. It would have been easy to issue a holding statement till the investigation was completed. They have not even apologised to the other well-behaved customers, many of them families, for what they had to witness. I wouldn't be happy to have paid £700 for a day-out to be destroyed by mindless thugs.

Also these rules don't seem to apply to away fans who hang whatever they want anywhere they want ,the stadium used to look great with all the old flags draped from the second tier

To be honest, I’m not to well clued up on the ins and outs of it all, but no reason to question what you’ve written.

But we’re at slightly crossed points - you’re saying the club comms are poor because they’re lying - I’m saying they’re poor regardless of whether they’re being truthful, lying or anywhere in between.
Having spent 4 years as Seasoncard Rep on City Matters I agree wholeheartedly with your point about the standard of the club's communication generally.

I used to get the shit that often resulted from poor comms.

100% and I’ve seen this with my own two eyes were some lads have done nothing wrong banned while they appealed missed 5 games no sorry nothing just here’s you’re ticket back and be grateful for it

Why does our own club hate us? They have never backed the fans on anything. As soon as we raise concerns about being treated like shit, like the champions league final they just brush it under the carpet. Genuine safety concerns are never acted on. When our fans witness shocking violence that has apparently resulted in one of our own receiving a broken leg we get this.

"The injuries were nowhere near as serious as the inaccurate rumours which have circulated online."

Oh that's alright then. Everybody is a lying **** are they? What injuries do they consider serious? A coma, death? I do wonder because when I received a bleed on the brain, due to some clown signing off an obviously unfit for purpose new flooring in the south stand, nobody gave a fuck. When i tried to meet officials to.point out how dangerous it was and prevent it happening to others they were all too busy, they would get back to me. Only they didn't. So i got mad and it cost them. Has anybody asked the victim if he considers his injuries as not serious? Im beginning to despair of our club.
