City fan suffers broken leg after being attacked at Leeds game

I understand why you say that mate but I'm sat here thinking if I go I'll have my 14 year old lad with me and if anything does kick off (fairly high chance all around the ground by the sounds of it) and I defend him and myself, then I'm probably just getting banned for it anyway so frankly why bother? The club wants shot of the traditional fans and in this case I'll probably oblige them.

We've seen incredible things none of us could have imagined, but my we've paid a price for it.
I get your point mate. I think we need to hear what improvements in security / ticket restrictions are being put in place for the Galatassary game.

Incidents of trouble are very rare thankfully and it needs to stay that way. I plan to be at the game.

He talks like an international businessman and quasi-politician because, well, he is a very successful international businessman and a very powerful quasi-politician. He isn't a fan and thank God he isn't because, judging from the average comment on this forum, fans should be nowhere near running a football club. Not a criticism at all, it's just what you would expect.

Where there are reasonable grounds for questioning is the extent to which Mansour and Khaldoon approve of the detailed policies Soriano is implementing in respect of the whole gamut of fan engagement.

Personally, I think they approve of Soriano's "Disneyland" vision which, in my view, is a mistake - football in England isn't an entertainment, it's a passion both for local and opposition fans on a life-long basis and for non-fans as a match by match experience. Sanitise the passion out of the game and it will be dead within a generation. This isn't America. It's almost dead to me now already.

But I am not sure they have Soriano under control on the details. Yes, I am sure he meets the high level targets the Board sets and I am sure he presents data showing how happy the fans are, but it's not their job to micro-manage Soriano. It's their job to correct his mistakes when they find out about them (like they did at the end of last season) or remove him if he keeps making them. I may change this assessment over time if Soriano keeps making things worse, but for now my one criticism is that, after the protests last season, Mansour and Khaldoon should he keeping Soriano on a short "fan engagement" leash - maybe they are but it's difficult to see any difference just yet.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the pressure applied at the end of last season should have been maintained despite the apparent price-reduction success. It's the only way to let Mansour and Khaldoon know there are still problems. They aren't going to hear it from Soriano. I worked for Euro-cunts for most of my life, I know how they work. And if the fans can't be motivated to let their feelings be heard, it is only going to get worse.
Yes, the fans were very quick to drop the vianogo element of the protest once more season tickets and price freezes were announced, big mistake letting that one go.

I hope the City fan is recovering well.
However could I ask a quick question please. Originally it was stated a fan was ‘beaten senseless’ and, as I read it, another had his leg broken but we have only heard about the broken leg. So was a fan beaten senseless or is this the exaggeration the club has posted about therefore not exactly lying as implied/stated but trying in a crack handed manner to explain?

I have read all the posts in this thread I think (amazing what you do to relieve the boredom of lying in a hospital bed!) and couldn’t make out whether two people had two different injuries, or one person had a broken leg after being beaten senseless. Sorry.

Also, without trying to be a sycophant I can only say what happened to me when I was at an away match in London and assaulted by a City fan and ignored by the London stewards and police but when I reported it to City on my return they contacted me within the hour and were extremely supportive as was @Ric on here.

I guess we can only speak as we find. The person who contacted me within the hour was Danny Wilson. Take that as you like but this is why I stick up for him. JMHO

Hopefully I do not offend anyone but I have to be honest. :-) :-)

EDIT: If it was two people I hope the second one gets well soon as well. :-)
I have already said I was wrong to criticise Danny Wilson. I know he has helped a lot of Blues.

The lad with the broken leg has written to Danny to thank the stewards for helping him, including getting the ambulance.

The statement from the club was unhelpful too.

I saw that you had said that @Tim of the Oak but that wasn’t the question I asked.
My question was: Was a City fan ‘beaten senseless’ as well as breaking his leg, poor guy?

If there was a fan ‘beaten senseless’ then the club and police have a bigger job. If not then the club were not lying, there was exaggeration however badly they worded their statement.
Exaggeration is what blows things out of proportion on the Internet these days.
That was the point I was trying to get across.

You know that I will almost always defend Danny Wilson for what he has done for me in what was a bad situation plus he has always enquired after my health since I was first taken ill a few years ago. As have you Tim and I thank you for that as well. I try to speak as I find. :-) :-)

Just rereading this. So City are basically saying nothing to do with us. A broken leg is a minor injury happens all the time and it was caused by blue on blue.

What the hell is happening to our club ?

CL matches that ive attended there's always lots of away fans around the us. The FA Cup game against Port Vale was horrendous, we were in the north stand and were out numbered by Vale fans who just wanted to fight. Fucking ridiculous that stewards did nothing and just left us fans to protect ourselves.

There are thousands of Galatasaray fans who live in England,
They can still police it like they did with the Lech Poznan game. Loads of fans with Polish surnames living in the UK bought tickets in the City end and then had them cancelled and re-allocated to a second away end located in - from memory - the 3rd tier of the East Stand

Yep danny wilson is a proper fucking saint, the club has never been better run, legacy fans are treated so well, and thank fuck he’s made it so difficult for away fans to get tickets in the home end.

Not having a pop at you Tim and appreciate you were responding on a specific point. Also you had the balls to mention the issue in the first place

Well highlighted. I wouldn’t worry about either of them two. They are irrelevant.

On a more serious and important note.

City Matters have now joined the fight. I’d go as far as saying the OSC is onboard as well. That’s all the fans groups V the Directors.(Superba in Proelio & CC1)
Easy now. Sir Kevin isn't going to do anything crazy while the gravy train is still travelling at full speed.

Given how seemingly easy it is for away fans to get tickets in the hospitality areas would it not make sense for the club to employ police rather than stewards in certain areas? The stewards are not trained or physically able to deal with crowd violence do any fights have to be stopped by fans who saint danny and his cohorts then bans for intervening. Given the fact that there will be thousands of Galatasaray fans with tickets in all areas I am assuming our responsible saint danny will be ensuring a major police presence for that game?

Poor form indeed, but standard disgusting procedure if I understand comments from @Dodge correctly.
Yeah 2 lads I know were thrown out of the ground at candlefield last season, bailed by misery side police, season tickets immediately suspended by the club and banned for away games - this was for several months despite no further action from miseryside cops, 3 months without being able to go to games and no compensation from the club for the games their seats were empty

This flies in the face of innocent until proven guilty, but is it standard procedure at all PL and EFL clubs? - Not including the dippers in this as their fans are always innocent.
