Will we win the league this season?

We are honestly riding our luck a lot. These results will catch up and will average out over the season based on how we are performing if we don’t massively improve.
Were we riding our luck at Newcastle having a stonewall penalty turned down and an offside goal against us allowed ?

The way we've been reffed so far this season suggests we're in deficit in the luck column and have a lot of luck coming our way

City feel like 03-06 United. As in still in the top 3, but not good enough to win the league. It's a transitional period. But unlike City, the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo were 18-21 during that spell. Most of the City lads are 25+. Nico is the only real youngster in the starting XI.

For me, City need their own Gabriel/Saliba/van Dijk (prime). An athletic, tall, commanding and composed CB. Dias is a good player. But he'd really benefit from that profile next to him. Or in the long term, Gvardiol needs that profile next to him. Reis might develop into a top CB.

Nunes is fine as a squad player. A better overall RB is probably needed, to be honest.

If Rodri isn't going to get back to his best, another DM/CM to share minutes with Nico González needs to be brought in.

Doku finally seems to be locking down the LW spot. With Bobb not really stepping up since his injury and Savinho not rated by most City fans, a RW needs to be brought in as well.

So... CB, DM/CM, RW. And maybe a more natural backup ST for Haaland. City still have a chance this season. But I do think that it's probably Arsenal's time.
In today's starting lineup we had:

Haaland: 25
Doku: 23
Foden: 25
Gonzalez: 23
O'Reily: 20
Gvardiol: 23

That's 6/11 who are 25 or younger.

Donarumma is 26 which is young for a goalkeeper.

On the bench we had:

Trafford: 23
Cherki: 22
Ait-Nouri: 24
Savinho: 21
Khusanov: 21
Lewis: 21

So, you can't exactly say our team is old. We're a very young squad that you would expect to peak in 5+ years.

So, based on that, I disagree with the bold point about squad age.

We really need an out and out RB. A centre back who can stay fit and partner Gvardiol would be helpful too. If Kovacic and Rodri don't sort out their fitness, then we need another CDM. 3 transfers could sort the squad out.

Just sign a midfielder or two, then I'll feel better about it because we can only ride whatever train we're on this last week for so long before it's out of steam.

Tbf I think we have the third youngest squad in the league.

We’re handily placed, but I can’t remember a season when we had so many players with so few minutes under their belts in December. With two going to AFCON as well, I’m starting to question whether any of them will get enough meaningful game time to find form.

Not for me. We are there in fight and merit. There are too many moaning.
I think it’s probably more down to the fixtures tbh. Arsenal have already been to Anfield, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge whereas our away games, on paper at least, haven’t been as tough so far. I’m pleased that we’re second, obviously, but Arsenal are a much better side than us at the moment.
