Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

As someone has alread said on here, we're without the best midfielder in the world In Rodri and without the multiple champions league winner in Kovacic.

How do you think arsenal would cope without Rice and Zubimendi in midfield?
Kovacic is a big miss for us I think and is massively under appreciated by a lot of City fans. Doubt he play much following his injury though.

The shortcomings of the team are well documented above so I'll take the positives;

3 points at a hard away ground
Erling gets the 100 goals albatross off his back
Phil is back scoring (good goals too)
Reijnders got on the scoresheet
Doku is a handful even when he's not playing particularly well
With a bit of luck we could have had 2 more goals that hit the inside of the post

We move on.

Who else plays there, and don’t say Rico or Kushanov
Khusanov was hands down our best defender up until his injury.

100% Khusanov is a better option than Nunes at right back.

All that a side, we shouldn't even be discussing Nunes, Rico or Khusanov as who gets the nod, the club should have signed a proper right back and not fucked about.

Only team in the league that would give up a 5.1 lead.

This team is done.

Pep subs absolutely baffling.
We won, so how did we give up the lead ?

On the subs, they scored a second, I can see why Stones was brought on, personally wouldn't have taken Doku off for Savinho, but we have to look at the games ahead too.

When you say "you lot" you are talking to a hell of a lot of fans on hear who think Savinhio is utter crap including me. Other than the rare decent cross I can see no good reason how he can be in this team. Nobody is blaming him for anything today specifically. They just dont want him anywhere near this squad.
So basically your statement that nobody is blaming him today proves that people are having a pop at him just for the hell of it tonight. Most of the comments you see on here prove nothing other than most of those commenting have a very poor understanding of the game.

We were cruising in the 1st half and playing well, scored some great goals, but we conceded a soft goal just before the half.
We came out in the 2nd half and started well and at 5-1 that should've been it, but we sat back and just let them pretty much do what they want.
Not sure who was mean't to be marking their goal scorers, and even though they were good finishes, they had so much time pick their spot.
Amazing that we had a few good chances to really put the game away too.
A crazy game!

A brilliant achievement for Erling! Keep it going lad, all the records are there for the taking.

Phil is in great form, his first goal was superb, but i liked his second, keep it going lad!

No idea why Nico G was subbed but we fell apart when he came off, that just shows why we need another DM.

Happy to get the win, but we can't go on playing like this, sort it out Pep!

will they though...

that performance will only encourage and show teams that if they put us under pressure we fold....
Or, alternatively, you could argue that teams will look at it and think that no matter how much fulham tried they couldn't break us down in the end and that we are the best team in the land and all the world.

The only way out of this mess is too add more power and tenacity in midfield. Pep is right about needing Ake or ait back. Unfair to throw oreilly into midfield as he needs to improve certain areas but the way we are playing, don’t look like we have any choice.

If it keeps sav out of the team then I’m all for it. Just hope the move doesn’t hinder oreillys progress.

Need steel in the middle. Maybe this move can achieve that.
Pep suggested post-match that O'Reilly is in consideration for a role in midfield but he also added that Rodri is close to a return. But he has said that a few times now.

Fans need to lay off Savinho. He's struggling but it's a vicious cycle. He plays bad, fans abuse him, he gets worse, fans abuse him some more etc.

Dias was class when he came as a no nonsense defender, then Pep tried to turn him into a ball playing midfielder.
Very true.

Genuine question do you think he's doing the same with Josko Gvardiol?

When Dias first arrived he'd put his head to anything, Gvardiol at the world cup and with Leipzig was an absolute monster, we don't have that Gvardiol.

Now we have two centre backs, one that won't block a shot and that other that wears a hair band...

Strange thing is football
Conceded 6 goals in two games yet got six points only two points off top.
But we cant perform the same in any two different halfs.
We've become a nervous team.

Still recovering from that
Not one to watch sober
Fulham with nothing to lose just started blasting shots form everywhere just boom no shits given then some went in and the crowd treated it like a cup final
City players got nervy
Fulham players flying balls in from everywhere like wtf is this

Fulham don't try that in their next games
Most teams dont play like that juat gung ho slamming shots in from all over
Just an odd one

But. They also dont try this against Arsenal or feel like they can. That says something about how teams think they can get at us and how we've gone from looking like the keeper made us solid to this

Nobody is talking about Fulham's goals, except maybe @youngbob about their xG. On most other nights, there is no way most of those go in, it kind felt like the stars aligned for them, except it was too late with what we'd done before hand. I'm not excusing our pathetic defensive set up, but on most other nights, we come away from that 5-1 winners. We need to thank ourselves lucky that we'd got so far ahead. A night to forget, which could end up being a night that help us win another league title......

Needs his mask again :) Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

Good post. We deserved it in the end.

It’s not just sav under the microscope. Other players have credit in the bank.

He should have been sold. No good resolution now.
