Yep, that's a feeling I'm getting too ..... and I think Rodri himself continues to have his own doubts .

Now that Pep has said it, I’m on board with giving O’Reilly a run in midfield. He’s played there a lot in the youth teams, and gives us some much needed presence and physicality. Plus he can get into the box more, where he’s shown he can be a threat.

I would take Nunes out and Reijnders who is just invisible for me particularly when the going gets tough.

I just worry about our LB play if Nico moves to midfield. RAN has looked very shaky.

You also have to wonder what Nico thinks about it given he's on his way to play LB for England in the WC.

Nico will do a job anywhere. Also RAN is off to AFCON. So technically he could well end back at left back when RAN goes. Central midfield with both Rodri and Kovacic out the options are bare. We need to rotate a bit. I don't think Nico can consistently play as much as he has. So hopefully 1 of the 2 be ready soon. I honestly think we got a lot that's in limbo in the defence a bit of rotation will be needed. So whoever comes into that defence has a chance of getting a run of games. Right back Nunes bit hit and miss can we see someone in that position for Sunderland still think Rico Lewis will get another chance soon.

Khusanov is a better defender than Nunes IMO and pushing Nunes up he can still put crosses in and help out defensively...maybe

3 years ago we would have pasted these but even newly promoted teams don’t fear coming to the Etihad now - sure their manager watched the Leeds and Fulham games and can’t predict a definite win for us with confidence

Reijnders had a great first half, agree that he is a bit lightweight when it gets a bit physical

Sunderland are tailor made to kill us on the break but if we create as many chances as we did vs Leeds and Fulham we should put them away.


Clearly lots of problems with the team set up at the moment but we just have to keep winning while Pep sorts it out.
