Will we win the league this season?

Whilst you're busy searching for somebody to insult, maybe you could stop for a minute and predict how many points we'll take at Palace and Forest (2-2 and 0-1 last season)?

Then if you're right we can all scroll back and applaud as you'll obviously know more than any of us.
Sorry but he's right. Nobody knows what the score of the next match will be but that's a different subject entirely. The big issue in this forum, particularly in the post-match, is the unfortunately quite high number of idiots who lose the plot completly after a bad result.

One clown early on in the season said "We're light years behind Liverpool and it will take 2 seasons at least to catch them. Plenty more have said, even after the Leeds then the Fulham matches, that we have no chance of catching Arsenal. Another said Arsenal won't lose 4 matches this season. Well they've lost 2 in 15 so why wouldn't they lose 2 more in the next 23?

Meanwhile everybody knows who Pep should have played or brought on because it's easy AFTER you've seen the outcome, but they still know better and "Pep should go" - I even saw those three immortal words after the Fulham match, while another was slating the recruitment from the manager, coaches and players right up to the owners - yes, we now need a change of ownership!

Then of course we have the Scapegoat of the Season. This time it's Savinho, last season it was mostly Doku and Gonzalez.

These are just a few of the gems we have had, some as recently as last Tuesday. The reality is they're all clueless to varying degrees but it's entertaining and annoying at the same time.

As i said in the post-match last night, I think the mistake that many are making is that they don't see this as a 90-100 point team and assume that because we're not going to hit those heights we have no chance of winning it. It probably isn't at the moment, but what they don't realise is neither is any other team - we won't need 90 points to win the league.

Still waiting till end of January
Why?

Everybody thinks we need to sign more and more and more players until we find the right XI. It doesn't work like that and if you're not careful you end up like Chelsea were with far too many players making it impossible to put an established team capable of challenging together, while ending up with an onesie, unsettled squad full of highly rated pros that can't get a game.

We're already some way along that road with a host of players out on loan while we having a side that's already challenging but (notwithstanding injuries), with players like Ake, Bobb, Stones, Ait Nouri, Marmoush, Rodri, Khusanov, Trafford, Kovacic and a hoist of others that aren't getting any game time which will mean they become unsettled and want to move on, then we have to find replacements and go through the process of having to fit them in and get them up to speed.

That's why Pep likes a smaller squad, it's easier to give most of them enough game time to keep them happy. Too many and you get players that never get in the side and end up moving on. That's what happens with a lot of the academy players, whey several on the fringe of the team who, with all those senior pros on the sideline will the most part never get a chance. We will need a lot of them if we're going to play 60+ games a season but we can't just keep adding to the squad.

Still think no, were still a bit vulnerable

Not going to read too much into Arsenal dropping points away to Villa, Villa are arguably the form team in the league

Also you know Gabriel/saliba return will be huge for them

Its a funny ol season, a injury to Rice could really set them back...likewise and injury to haaland would do the same for us

We could, but I'll still make Arsenal favorites

Arsenal draw next Saturday night.
We win Sunday.
Well, one can hope.
Loads of ups and downs this season but we’ll be there or thereabouts.
In Pep we trust.
CTID
Its odd but id rather he just behind them then in front for as long as we can

Think they crumble under pressure, if we can stay within a single win of them they'll feel it and think they'll fall apart again

If they are behind us it gives them something to chase

You have addressed the injury and return of Arsenal's best players and you could do likewise for City.

Most important thing is goals are now being scored all over abc that is massive but our defence needs to tighten up and we need cover for Nico g if Rodri isn’t gonna be able to do it . Gigi is a Game changer

Still not sure we are consistent enough to win the league, but that’s more to do with comparing the City of today with the one from three years ago and realising we are still a work in progress.

We are so much better to watch compared to last season and the attacking part of our game has been completely refreshed but the next three away games will be a great yardstick to measure the progress.

The performance at Arsenal should be template for some of the more difficult away games and with the continued absence of Rodri and Kova, we need another top class player of that ilk to give ourselves a fighting chance of finishing above Arsenal.

We're clearly in the mix. But we need to cut out the silly brainfarts at the back. Even yesterday, there were a couple of daft episodes. Against better sides, that'll cost us (we won't score 3 in every game).

If I’m not mistaken we have already played Arsenal, Villa and Chelsea away.
They’re probably our main rivals and won’t fancy a trip to the Etihad in the second half of the season.
Definitely in with a chance.

We haven’t played Chelsea yet this season.

We play them at home in early January and away in mid April.

Two ways of looking at this.

One, Arsenal have ticked off nearly all their difficult away games and still look like the most rounded team.

BUT, we have been shite and are basically neck and neck going into Christmas with Arsenal, for another season running, leaving too many questions about whether they're killers. With Rodri to come back in, goals being spread around the team, and us looking hungry for...something.

Proper title race, though. That's all I wanted us to do in this first part of the season, keep ourselves alive. Couple of funny results over Christmas and half the league will think they're in a title race.
Let’s also not forget that Arsenal were by far the better team in the first half of the treble season. They only dropped 7 points from memory with predictions of 100+ points abound, plus we were far further adrift of them at one stage than we are now.
