Will we win the league this season?

We don’t have a strong enough squad yet I think. We only need to lose one or two of the most influential players to injury and we are in real trouble as our squad depth isn’t there yet.

It's why we will sign a player or two in January in my opinion.

I think we put the money on the table required to sign Guehi and Anderson.

I mentioned on here the other day that arsenal only had 2 wins from 4 games and that draws are starting to creep in. Now that's 2 wins from 5..with a loss in.

Someone replied and said those two draws were to solid teams and insinuated we shouldn't read too much into it

I disagree. Dropped points are dropped points. There's no asterisk to say that they were a against decent sides that changes the tally.

They're clearly winning less than they had been. 2 wins from 5 isn't great form, it's irrelevant who took those points from you and how good they are. Maybe just a few signs they're not some dominant force compared to the rest this season.

That said, I'll be stunned if they drop any points next weekend v Wolves
Probably five behind again on Saturday. If we can beat Palace I see no reason why we can't win it. A draw or defeat won't finish us but a win would make a big statement.

Sorry did I miss us winning the title?

I’d love to be eating humble pie, but it’s mid December and we’ve just nearly blown a 4 goal lead to fucking Fulham and beaten a newly promoted side at home.

We may be 2 points off top but we’re 9 points off 12th.

We still have to travel to Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Spurs, Palace, Everton, Sunderland, Bournemouth and Forest. Going off how we’ve played on the road there’s a reasonable chance we don’t win any of those.
I reckon we'll win more than we lose of those away games.

From Troy Deeney's BBC column:

"Among players to play 300 minutes in the Premier League, no player has created more chances per 90 minutes than Cherki (3.4) and only four have had more touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes (7.7). The Frenchman is currently assisting a goal, on average, every 80 minutes, also a league best."

Cherki is upgrading City' attack.

Arsenal lost to Pool away where we have an awful record. We beat them home so not really the same.
I agree, but the original post was discussing wins vs various clubs which I don't see the point of anyway, you could win 4-0 at Bournmouth, they could lose 4-0 at Bournmouth for example. But my point is that they haven't beaten any of the challenging teams home or away.

If most of their wins are “by the odd goal” whereas we “consistently outscore teams” (which could also be by one goal btw) how come we both have the same goal difference?

Arsenal have more injuries than us.
Because they started off with bigger wins while we lost a couple. Point is we improving as I suggested we would early in the season. I also don't believe they have more (or worse overall) injuries than us.

Odd that everybody keeps hyping up their chances while downplaying (at best) ours, yet the reality is we're catching up.

The Premier League is very competitive this season but there are no outstanding sides. The League Table is what it is.

If Rodri returns to his best form, Manchester City will then be the outstanding side.
The PL is always very competitive ….. right up to the point where it isn’t and one or two teams pull away from the pack. This season’s no different

Don’t let Arsenal build an unassailable lead and it’s ours.

Huge pressure on a team and manager that has won NOTHING in FIVE YEARS to deliver the biggest prize of all with the most emotionally unstable set of suppporters in the country demanding them to get it done.

It’s a proper recipe for disaster and the first cracks are starting to appear.
Arteta was very measured and spoke quite impressively in his post match comments after the Villa loss.

If he can transfer that kind of calm restraint to his touchline antics as well it will benefit his players and they may be less inclined to over celebrate random league wins which will give them a better chance of lasting the course.

Big if tbf

You’re the gift that keeps on giving

It’s not even about the players or manager self sabotaging when it comes to the run in though. Arsenals supporters will be the major deciding factor and the emotion they are going to exude is going to be on a seriously high level.

Of course I then expect that will be too much and will filter down to a playing group and manager who have won nothing in 5 years.

But their singing end all wear matching black t shirts to intimidate the visiting teams. Surely that has to pay off one of these years.

I've got a horrible feeling Real Madrid away, traveling, getting back early on Thursday morning, traveling to London on Friday, and playing on Saturday morning against a fully rested Palace team at home is going to be too much for the players.

It's an utter disgrace that City of have been forced to play the game on Saturday morning for TV.

Palace play in Dublin on Thursday, our game’s 2pm Sunday.

Even if it was Saturday, there’s nothing wrong with playing Wednesday-Saturday.

I wish you could get some basic facts right before coming on to moan.

This has got to be a wind up?

I believe we are improving as the season goes on. Arsenal however are close to their peak. Saying that I feel this season is their best chance to win the title because next season we’ll be humming and back to being a steamrolling machine.
Right now, it’s line ball for me. They still have to overcome their demons. In 2012 during our celebrations, Roberto Mancini was asked what is the difference between winning the title and coming second. His answer “the difference is the sea”. I have an inkling that if we keep improving Arsenal will drown before they make it to shore.

I think we’re on a general upwards trajectory and have a bigger upside to our game with the caveat of more risk of that plummeting with injuries than Arsenal have with their depth.

Arsenal look to be steadily consistent at their current level. Truly believe we can eclipse that with the talent and manager we have.

I think we win the thing by winning the games Arsenal draws if we manage to win it.

The mantle of most emotionally unstable set of supporters is surely held by the dippers.

I agree. The problem is we're not much better if this forum is anything to go by. We're assessing our chances and updating our beliefs on a game by game basis, plenty more positive posts at the moment but lose to RM tomorrow and/or Palace on Sunday and it will be a total meltdown again.

I could have posted the exact same reply to the previous post above.
