Premier League Games | 13/14/15 December '25

Sorry, I know it smacks of privilege but fuck off Burnley and just stay away from the league please
You're absolutely 100% correct. It does smack of privilege. They earned their right to play in the PL by their efforts last season in the Championship. The fact that they've been underwhelming so far is irrelevant. They're there on merit.

Imagine being a fan of teams like wolves/burnley etc praying they get enough points to stay up, remind you of anyone?
I remember seasons when we would go into March and scour the remaining fixtures, trying to work out where the 7/8/10 points we need to be safe were coming from. Late winners at Saints and Middlesbrough (IIRC) were greeted with the same joy as Rodri's goal in Istanbul, or 93:20. Different times. What is it they call it; "character building", isn't it?

some of the privileged teams need to taste it

They're there on merit every other season

Showing next to fuck all ambition to push on each time

As are Leeds too I suppose
Absolutely. Much as I hate them (more accurately, their fanbase), if their team does the business on the pitch, so be it. It's not that difficult a concept to grasp; decent performances will hopefully earn you points. Amass enough points and you go up/stay up/win trophies.

But you wouldn't lose any sleep if they got relegated and would probably prefer it if they did over other teams if you had a preference.

That 06/07 season under Pearce was miserable.
At least under Royal we had just been promoted and it was all a novelty
The first season in the Etihad was a close call.
We beat Newcastle 1-0 in May to guarantee safety.
If I remember rightly we beat the rags 4-1 in March then didn't win a league match until the Newcastle game.

We finished the season on 41pts.

Of course I wouldn't. But that's a totally different argument to what I was saying about teams being where they are on merit. Actually, I suppose it's not that dissimilar. If they were to go down, it's because they have one of the three worse records in the league over the course of the season. Nothing to do with my lack of disappointment if such an event were to take place.

Good finish from the Fulham player there

Feel for Burnley fans a bit. Their team is absolute shit

At least I was in the North Stand then (prior to becoming Family) and could escape to the Metrolink quicker.
