You dont 'get away with' beating Madrid and Palace away in the space of 5 daysSame as Madrid really, the second best team but we got away with it. I think we have scored 5 goals from 6 chances over the two games, of which 2 were penalties and one from a corner.
We aren't going to carry on getting away with performances like this. Rodri is needed back desperately.
Question is who do we bring in & as much as I rate Wharton hes more of a Rodri replacement who can dictate the play by recycling the ball & picking passes than someone whos a ball winning midfielderAt this time of year, the result is more important than the performance and its job done.
There are major issues with our midfield and I would hope we are going to try and solve those on the 1st January. It could be the difference between winning the title and not.
We had 8 shots on target to Madrid's 1 and a better xg even taking out the penalty. Got away with what exactly?Same as Madrid really, the second best team but we got away with it. I think we have scored 5 goals from 6 chances over the two games, of which 2 were penalties and one from a corner.

I think O'Reilly was playing him on .... Palace were a handful at times though, early on, but we steadied the ship a bit after Erlings goal, and gradually began to exert control of the game throughout the 2nd half..Mmm not sure about that Nico O'R met have been playing him on.
Still they didn't have too many other real chances.
Some would rather we drop points so they can revel in their misery.3-0, away from home against a very decent team, after arguably the toughest possible midweek fixture.
What more do people want? Green Shield stamps?
Willing him on to score for that one. Would be great for him . Excellent run though and hope it gives him some confidence and good we got a goal out of it.I think Savinho should get an assist for the penalty. That was a great run, and it lead directly to the goal.
In fact, I think that's good suggestion, I'll email the premier League after I've had a few more ales and suggest it for next season.
He’s an absolute mega ****, saw him at the end of the match looked like he was trying to ingratiate himself possibly with Phil until Bernardo guided him away - clearly no respect for the cheating twatHenderson claiming Savi dived pissed me right off. It's like he thinks VAR won't check.... Oh hang on.
****!!!
Good to see a clean sheet today.Good result. Better in the second half and a nice clean sheet.
harsh ,i thought he was ok ,admit he wasnt brilliant. but sure signs he is adaptingGreat result.
First half was very poor, second half much more connected through the team. We got away with that first half performance and we cant keep doing that.
Having said that second half Cherki and Foden stepped up centrally. Nico OReilly again proves why he is first choice fullback and Nunes was again good (great assist again)
Cherki's ability to control a game is growing...he has that Spannish Dave ability to affect a whole game and hopefuly he grows even more into that role.
Nico G is an absolute workhorse - he may not get everything spot on BUT he is growing and never ever stops
The downside is Reijnders - he should be nowhere near the starting 11 - we won that game despite his insipid, lazy and woeful effort and performance. ......that was nothing short of disgraceful and there is zero excuse for it - none! The club and team cannot afford to wait for him to decide to put some physical effort in...watching him watching the game pass him by with little effort to get involved especially defensively is very irritating. If he came out and said he wanted a return to Italy in the next few months I wouldnt be surprised - that is the attitude he is showing at present....little to do with ability which makes it more annoying. And none of this is a first.....it's nearly every game
Thought our defence was poor but everyone of their chances before Haaland scored were offside. Defence dug in really well in the 2nd halfWe got away with things early on - but our game management and team spirit, putting bodies on the line when it was needed, was exceptional.
As others have said - what a WEEK!!!!!
