47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

His goal scoring form has come alive.

I agree that he was quite poor before that.

I think some of that can be contributed to being overplayed recently and playing inverted LW when he is better deeper in build up (which he started doing more of 2nd half)

Yeah he just looks a bit knackered

Thought he was awful for the vast majority of the match but he got one opportunity and made it count. A lot brighter for the remainder of the match after his goal. Scoring crucial goals whilst not playing well is not a bad trait to have at all.
That’s a sign of a top player and will be the difference to whether we win the league or not

At heart Phil is a forward (Tuchel is right about that). He's at his best around the box. In terms of scoring from outside of the box he's the best in the league (and might be highly useful for England in the US next summer).

Guess that explains why he's a bit slow to learn how to play as a Pep midfielder. It goes against his instincts. Given his skills on the ball, it will be glorious if/when he gets it.

Think Tuchel midfield will be rice Anderson and Rodger’s if all fit Bellingham and Foden will be coming of the bench it be against players who will be more knackered! If your going far in a competition the players who start may not be in the side near the end injuries happen also! For me Bellingham should be the Rice replacement as a sub or if rice is injured or needs a rest!

Bellingham is guaranteed to start (unless he is very poor in the final months of this season). Anyone who thinks he might be on the bench overstates Tuchel's personality.

That Tuchel did not play him in some recent games means nothing.

Phil needs to score regularly to even be in the squad. He's competing with Rogers, Eze, Palmer...

does anyone else think that when Phil is on great goal scoring form, his general play declines? When he’s involved in the build up like he was earlier this season and pulling strings (Everton for example), he’s brilliant. He’s been on amazing scoring form lately and that’s also brilliant but his overall play hasn’t been as good.

Not complaining about scoring or build up, both are great. Just wondering if he gets so focused on scoring his overall play is a bit rushed. Abyone else?

Did you ever watch KDB play a game of football? His whole game was about the first 3 things, he couldn't dictate tempo to save his life.

One of the most ridiculous posts I have ever seen on here and that's saying something.

He did help with controlling the tempo, getting into good positions to support play alongside being the creative spark.

If you couldn't see that; it's your problem

Is he back to his best? Nope.
Is he much better than last season? Yep

Going in the right direction which is good enough for me as it stands.

Okay, so you disagree with Pep too?
Think you misunderstand Pep.

Pep Guardiola: “Absolutely [more to come from Phil Foden]. He has a lot of margin to understand the game. He will not improve his incredible quality, because it’s top. But understanding the game, in certain moments the way you have to play, the way you have to accelerate or decelerate the game. The timing, the tempo. He will get it. Everyone has margin to improve. Everyone.”

340 appearances and 110 Goals

Already phenomenal but at times yesterday he was quite a frustrating watch, especially when coming deep for a pass from Gvardiol, only to give it straight to our least skilful player Dias.

Far more effective when further forward
