Don't see it with this guy

I know its a cliche but sometimes you get these players that just aren't suited to the speed of the English game, think this is one of those cases

Some little bits here and there but hes just so incredibly weak.... like hes over 6ft and he may be one of the weakest players ive seen play for us

He is barely noticeable, and not in a good Rodri like way hes just looking lost. He is so passive and his "tackles" are so half hearted, hes afraid to get hurt

I dunno, there are great players whove managed to "make it work" but hes not an Ozil where he has magic in his feet, hes jsut alright

Maybe im wrong, I normally back the players who've been cast off in their first seasons like Nunes/Savinho/Doku etc. but this is a 27 year old who should be in his prime and he just doesnt look like hes made for this style

I thought he looked poor tonight, he just didn't have much effect on the game at all ..... I'm willing him to do well, but most games I'm just not seeing it.

Maybe he's not realised how tough this league is before his arrival.

Think thats it, ge kinda just "coasts" his way through the game, doesnt want to put his foot on the ball and take charge of a game.

If he was being a menace to defences id see the upside, but hes not and his awful defensive side of his game leaves others picking up the slack

It’ll come. Quite poor again tonight but there’s definitely a player in there. Got to give him time. First year Pep syndrome as many have had
Think you may be spot on. There have been so many players particularly in midfield who've looked lost when they are playing under Pep, then suddenly in a years time you're thinking where did that performance come from?
And you realise you've got a player.

I'm not sure what his role is at the moment. He tries to drive us forwards and you can see he has the ability but he is often giving the ball away or completely anonymous.

It's not a huge surprise when we are playing so narrow though. I personally think he should be asked to play simple, from deeper and look to ghost into the box or run in behind at the right times to stretch things.

He just can't quite find that balance yet but we will see more in a few months.

Better. Still not the player I saw last season at Milan. Saw he was up to 8 G+A for the season which surprised me. Even though he's been largely average, still producing some output.

Think he’ll come good, he’ll be your typical second season under Pep type player. Patience is required with this one.

We are not, we’re not really here.

Never has a player epitomized our chant better. Proper invisible man.
Yo, way too harsh. What game were you watching? He made a number of line breaking passes that we didn't capitalize on. He was decent...

It's really mystifying how poor he's been. He's one of the most physically weak PL players I've ever seen. So off the pace it's untrue. It's like he's 50 years old and playing against 25 year olds.

Time to cut our losses on this guy, sign a RB/LB and give Nunes or O"Reilly a go in midfield.

I thought he was absolute garbage again. It’s these types of games where he has a real chance to turn things around. Against a really shite Brentford side, go out there and put down a marker. You wouldn’t have even known he was on the pitch for most of the game.
I mean, if you weren't watching, sure!

Couldn't disagree more. He's so bad even our own players seem to forget he's there at times.
First opportunity for City in the game. His through ball was what released Savio on the left. He put in the cross that split Mukasa and Bobb befor Lewis got a hold of it for the pass to Cherki for our fist shot on goal and Cherki

2nd chance for us started with another Reinjders through ball, this one to Bobb, who cut behind the fullback after faking a comeback. TJ hit him in stride. Bobb junked inside a defender but has a weak shot before going off injured

Nico G's run created the 3rd opportunity that led to the Cherki shot saved by their keep. By the way Reijnders was in an advantageous position to be slipped in on goal has Cherki wanted

The 4th opportunity was from the cornerkick. Reijnders volleyed slightly over the bar.

5th good chance was the goal by Cherki off Mukasa's CK.

In the 2nd half, its his though ball AGAIN that releases Savio for his goal.

It takes some real heavy blinders to not see what he was doing all game.

Said he needed a big game with being trusted to start at Palace, and he did next to nowt at Selhurst. Said the lad who sits next to me last night that he needed a big game as he was one of the two senior players in the team along with Aké with nearly everyone else being Under22, but yet again he just played like he was one of the Under22s… involved a bit more than at Palace, did a few good things, but shrugged off balls, making poor choices, just disappointing so far.

Got a lot of improving to do in the second half of the season if we are serious about winning the league.

These are top level professional footballers. They are all going to do things in the game where they manage to pass it to their own teammates that can be listed. Brentford were bobbins last night, I would say that not a single one of their players had a particularly good game, but you could compile a list for each of their players where they passed the ball to their own teammates and created decent attacking opportunities n’all.

As I said, Reijnders was a bit more involved in the game last night than he was at Palace, but it wasn’t a particularly good performance from him.

One of the things you listed there was really poor, lazy technique with that volley. He just swung his leg at it, when he needed to get his hip over the ball to keep it down.
