Enzo Maresca "high among candidates" to replace Guardiola if he leaves next summer

EXCLUSIVE!!! Man who previously worked at club and under the best manager on the planet may be in the thinking of the hierachy if the best manager on the planet decides to leave at some point. How the fuck did they piece that conundrum together?

Is his next exclusive going to be the dippers might consider bringing in a replacement player should they sell Salah?

If Pep was to go (he better not) there’s only one man I want.. Vincent Kompany

Ornstein broke the news of Haaland's mega long-term contract so I think he gets snippets from City too.
More likely agents than City informed inner circle. Its more likely that, as suggested above, Maresca wants a new contract or as he alluded to in an interview recently he hasn't got full support at the club so his new agent is sitting behind all this

At the risk of incoming flak, Pep was obviously gonna leave at the end of the 2025 season if we hadn't completely imploded.

I could totally see him leaving this year after somewhat righting the ship and leaving the club in a better state for a new manager to come in.

Pep has :

Donnarumma
Dias
Gvardiol
Khusanov
Reis
O’Reilly
Gonzalez
Foden
Echeverri
Cherki
Doku
Haaland

To make even better yet!!

I think he’s here at least 3 more years

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if Pep left before the end of his current contract (2027).
Not saying this contract, but I think he will leave during a contract.

When Taggart said he was leaving, they fell apart as the players stopped caring (and haven't cared since...) which is when he then stayed longer. I'd imagine we could see the same if Pep said he was definitely going at the end of a contract, so could expect something vague in public with a gentleman's agreement at the highest levels.

I suspect we'll see something closer to how he came in where it's all sorted and only announced mid-season if they need to due to speculation, but whether they can keep it quiet for long enough is another matter.

Whatever happens, need to make sure Pep isn't sat in the stands for every bad result, looming over future managers like the ghost of trophies past. On an unrelated note, may I wish Taggart a healthy 2026. And 2027. And 2028...

Keep a eye on Farioli.

Currently reshaping positional football at Porto leading the league, worked under De Zerbi were he picked up a lot of his build-up ideas and has shown that he can adapt because he went into one of the worst Ajax squads of all time said "can't play the Ajax way with these players" and almost won the league against a very good Bosz PSV playing a bit more pragmatic and direct.
His current employer being in Portugal is probably straight into the mouth of Viana

I have always thought when the day comes that Viana is going to make a play for Amorim. He has been a lot shitter than expected at United, but I think they see themselves as a bit of a Clough/Peter Taylor double act in todays standard, and works well together. I am not a huge fan of the football he has tried to play in England, nor the one he played in Europe with Sporting. But I do like his tactical mindset in terms of creating overloads all over the pitch and on the flanks, while having enough players to attack the box centrally. It could be genius, it could be disaster pr amything in between but I am certain Viana will be talking to him. Would have been funny if he actually were good at United and we stole him, now it is way too risky for me.

I like Bosz in terms of his similiar Cruyffian outlook like Pep, and has shown he can dominate when his players are very good compared to the league. But way too heacy in his plan A to get a job like ours.

I like Iraola and wants to see him with better players. His football is great

Maresca is a bit meh at this point, not sure about him. But a competent coach.

Enrique and Kompany both feels like the right move but perhaps both are unattainable.

Maybe Alonso? And what if we actually made a move for Klopp?
