Enzo Maresca "high among candidates" to replace Guardiola if he leaves next summer

If we start ballin out again I could see Pep signing a short term extension.
(Year or two)
There’s another ‘if’ for you.

I always thought a reason Pep and his wife broke up was because of how into his job he was here at City.

She probably didn't see him much, expected him to leave years back, and didn't want to be in England.

Seems weird they would divorce and then he immediately leaves the job which (possibly) broke them up in the first place.

Sébastien Pocognoli

Sébastien Pocognoli: AS Monaco's sporting project attracted me
Sébastien Pocognoli's coaching style focuses on dominant, attacking football, characterized by high pressing, counter-pressing, and quick transitions, often using a flexible 3-4-1-2 system, but he emphasizes adaptability, a strong human element, and developing young talent with a blend of intensity, technical skill, and tactical intelligence.

I think the press know that if they run something like this each year then eventually they'll be right.

Maybe the club do check options around this time, but it absolutely means nothing at this point. The club would be being negligent though if they weren't continuously sounding managers out though.

In terms of other managers, VK has got to be in the club's thoughts. I like Iraola, he's done wonders with Bournemouth, but the style is a bit different. Fabregas has done brilliantly at Como too.

I said a couple of months ago on the guardiola thread in player performances forum that there are senior people within city that think this could be pep's last season and was shot down.

Hopefully I'm not saying I told you so in 6 months

Well he hasn't made it up. So whoever has told him he obviously trusts, because hes put his reputation on the line to discuss one of the biggest managerial changes in world football being potentially several months away.
He's not put much on the line - manager may leave in a future summer and be replaced by another manager, and one possible contender could be someone who used to be an assistant and now works for a top PL side and has won a trophy. But might not be. But will probably be someone who's a manager. Maybe.

If he was anymore vague, he'd be Clinton Baptiste.

He says himself the info has come from outside the club, whatever that means - an agent, Arsenal, Bluemoon?

I would imagine Kompany will be THE guy the club want above all else now that he's showing himself very capable of managing a huge club.

So in an ideal world I'm sure the club would love Pep to do another 3 years and then take Kompany when his contract ends at Bayern but if Pep became adamant he wants to leave then they may look at Maresca to be the Pellegrini competent stop gap manager while they wait.
