Nothing like a natural defender. He was exposed in CWC and continues to be every time he plays.

His appearance record perhaps suggests that he isn't considered good enough by those that matter.

I thought that he looked really exciting going forward when he first arrived, but that's not a priority - for me - when looking at a fullback.

Don’t think many of our players covered themselves in glory in the CWC tbf :) Hard to judge RAN now considering he’s barely played for us.

I remember a match last season (may have been scousers at home?) when NOR went into midfield in the 2nd half and was like a deer in the headlights.

Personally I’d keep both Nico & RAN where they are, go for Anderson/Wharton for midfield and let Semenyo go elsewhere.

His record is generally atrocious outside the last 12ish months. And this isn't some guy who never got his shot until recently. He's 25. He has 300 professional games. The signs all point to him being in form than talent just escalated.

There's much more sensible and economical options available in summer.

Agree with most of that, don’t think he’s a fit for us, he’s a transition player
Not sure who the better priced options in the summer are though mate, given his release clause? Ndiaye maybe with Jack as leverage?

Cherki won’t play on the right long term tbf, him and Phil will end up as the new Berkovic and Bernarbia

This take is mad we not allowed to have a top squad? You see our bench Saturday! look at Arsenals bench Liverpools! Don’t mention this bulshit either if they not playing regular they’ll be of yeah like the players at Arsenal who won fuck all not wanting out for the last 5/6 years! Baffling any Man City fan keep coming up with “but but” “where will he play” when we have this player or that player! We need 16/18 of top quality players at least..

This lacks logic
The reality is that we need Associatoin trained players to complete our squad unless we can train them all ourselves we need to go elsewhere to get them and the topPL teams are unlikely to sell.

Out of your list Trafford and Ait Nouri are far to recent to draw any conclusions from kovacic has been injury prone but decent and actually came from an upper PL team many of your other examples are ancient history and no more representative than say
Stones Barry Lescott and Milner all of whom have been part of important title winning teams for us.

Looking at other teams Liverpool won the PL twice and the CL with the likes of Robertson Henderson Mane and MacAllister in their sqaud .
Arsenal are currently ahead with Rice touted as the best player in the PL and Eze, Trossard and Raya all playing important roles.

The provenance of a player is less important than how well he is scouted . At one time our successive Brazilian signings were the likes of Jo Robinho Sylvinho Maicon and Fernando. Did this mean we should have avoided Fernandinho and Ederson?

I do think scouting is particularly important for PL players as they tend to attract premium fees and are difficult to off load if unsuccessful but to avoid them altogether is neither practical or logical.

Agree about CWC - I didn't want us anywhere near it, then once I was totally caught up in it, we did whatever it was you call that against Al-Hilal. A real let-down.

I always quite fancied NOR marauding down the wing, because we've seen he can put a terrific cross in, but with Doku producing a lot more now I wouldn't want to see Nico fighting for a place with him.

Nico has been on such a steep upward trajectory that I'd fancy him to adapt to a midfield role. Although he's been doing really well at LB, he's still exposed as a makeshift every now and again.

I just don't think that RAN is the answer to any question, personally. He regularly plays himself out of position just by being drawn towards the ball, even when he has no chance of affecting play. It's a natural trait that I can't ever see anybody coaching out of him.

Show me where I’ve said we’re not allowed to have a top squad. My original point was we’re fine for attackers, we need more depth in central midfield so in my opinion that’s where we need to strengthen. A half fit Rodri (if he even is fit before the new year) will take months to recover form & fitness. Semenyo would be a signing which, imo, we don’t need.
 
He is not a natural winger; he likes to come inside and shoot. He and Haaland can't play together; a two-striker system won't work with Haaland in the team. The Central Midfield position is needed more; without a quality CM signing, we won't win the league.

Yes we need an Anderson but we really need another winger we have Doku Savino one is still not shown up but looking a bit more promising coming of the bench, Bob needs first team football to see if he can get his confidence up. we know Doku injury record too so we need a winger! This lad ideal can play left right and as a striker.. if he chooses us or not that’s different matter..

It can as it worked with Alvarez. The second striker needs to have the Tevez/Alvarez work rate to press and cover though.
 
With Isak’s injury, I’d be amazed if Semenyo doesn’t join them next month. He covers the entire front line and would also be their best winger, on either side.
