Marc Guehi | Leading target for City (p28)

Being a midfielder isn’t just about physical traits and the IQ required to play at fullback and in midfield are worlds apart. NOR is very one footed, decision making could be improved and his first touch isn’t great. His best qualities are suited to fullback.
Yep, my thoughts exactly. I do though accept he may be capable of the learning curve required.

Yeah, it was an early post lol, overtired from new puppy, haha. Probably sounded too harsh, I just think when I’ve seen him in midfield he looks too one-footed and struggles, however his curve has been so steep at left back that he probably is capable of progressing in midfield, but I still think he will stay as a left back as he’s so good at that position.

Haha! We've all done it.

We are unlikely to see it this season purely because he's been so good at left back and Ait-Nouri hasn't been around to rotate him.

Full back requires very high football IQ. You have to be excellent at reading the pace of the game, when to drop, when to press, when to overlap, when to widen or narrow the pitch, when and how to play offside, when to play short inside or when to play long, as well as being able to read the winger you’re playing against, suss him out and nullify him.

If you can play full back, the chances you have the IQ to play CM, are very high.

Whether you have the physical attributes and ability on the ball are another matter. Luckily for this kid, he has both. The kid is a born CM.

I’m pretty sure he’ll end up there, in around 3 seasons time. Going to be a monster.
A real gem of a player, even when he has a quiet game he is 7 out of 10. Never gets bullied and has more than an eye for goal. Our best Academy product since ickle Phil

Wait until he gains a year or two at Prem and International level and realises he’s huge and can bully all around
Going to be really good if he retains his current attitude

We will see

Would be a seamless rotation with Dias, Gvardiol, Guehi. Khusanov will be fine alongside any of these options too.
Does this mean we’re just conceding on Reis and bah?

I love guehi but I don’t see it happening. I am not as concerned with cb as others. Main concern is honestly Dias given he gets so much playing time and won’t seemingly be going anywhere.

Gvardiol can’t be benched at any regular cadence. He’s world class.

Reis & Bah are both 19, best case they wont be ready for consistent minutes until 3 or 4 seasons time when they are 22/23. Given we aren't United, we want to be competing on all fronts, so this may be even longer

If we assume theyll be wanting forst team football by 23, Dias will be pushing 33, Guehi 30, Gvardiol 27, Khusanov 25

They have time

I can get behind that. If he comes i just hope Dias sits more often. Khus will get time on the right so not too worried about him

O Reilly has real quality. Think he will transition to midfield eventually but needs to learn how to use his size in midfield alongside having minutes to get used to that role he is unlikely to get quickly enough to make that move in next couple of seasons. Might start seeing him there in cup games and CL dead rubbers ( if there is such a thing now) or last parts of PL games that are in the bag. This season is about learning to play in one position at PL level which he is doing outstandingly well in so far.
We are half way through the season and I can't remember him having a bad game or making a serious mistake. I can remember how difficult an opponent he is for wingers, how he helps out in midfield and attack and how strong and quick he is. His footballing brain is good too. Quite an achievement for a 20 year old in his first proper PL season.

If he is like that now, how much more to come?

Always just assumed Reis and Bah are City group signings with the potential to play for City. Khusanov as well to be honest.

Guehi's in a different league compared to those 3.

Yes for sure. NOR has been a revelation since he came into the team. Wonder why the media have barely mentioned this?
That said he does need to improve his one on one defending since he should have gone better for the Real goal and last match Bowen (noted he’s a really good player) did Nico and almost made it 2-1
And we know what happened when it went to 2-1 home to Leeds
