I thought VAR didn’t intervene on yellow cards ? So why the delay in booking Cash. Looks like someone was giving the ref instructions.

Not sure he’s any better with his decision makingMaresca taught Garnacho discipline as a winger.
At United he always looked like a headless chicken, but now im seeing a player who thinks about his passing more often.
Also, what a stupid goal for Villa to concede.

Martinez too busy throwing Chelsea players out of the way, neglecting to actually claim the ball. He's overrated, in my opinion.

The stats were showing this all season.
Villas run was unsustainable, they dont have the squad depth and have been over achieving the metrics by alot.
The game is not over, and they are still competing for a champions league spot, but their winning run was mostly down to luck.

It’s much better than just ‘Shots’ and ‘Shots on Target’ stats. You can have a shot on target from 40 yards out that’s blocked by a player five yards away that wouldn’t go in in a month of Sundays. However, a 0.9 xG chance tells you a great deal more as does a 0.01 xG chance which Villa often score.
That Villa are so outperforming their xG by the amount they are tells us a lot. Whenever I’ve seen them, they tend to be shit but score great goals from outside the box. In another season, none of these wonder goals might have gone in and they could well be in the bottom three.
