Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

I always enjoyed your posts and felt they were given in good faith.
I felt the same about @tolmie's hairdoo
Gossip is to be enjoyed, but anything can happen with these deals - a player can change his mind; the club can change its mind; another player might receive a serious injury which changes priorities; a wife or girlfriend can apply pressure because Manchester is not for her.

Personally, I think Semenyo is a dangerous player but I am not sure if he is right for us unless we are considering an Erling alternative - false nine shifting Cherki central and wanting a player who can hold up the ball and also activate a fast counter.
We get options, which we will need.

Goals and work-rate aside, Semenyo can add physicality, which is needed in some games, especially away from home.

We have several players who are technically outstanding but a bit lightweight in duels and a bit short in our box when defending set pieces.

With (hopefully) Rodri back plus Doku and Semenyo on the wings we could have a team with incredible physicality.
Yes, that's what I meant by holding up the ball and activating a fast counter. I can see him coming for his physicality. If I was choosing though, I would be prioritising central midfield for that. A physical beast alongside Gonz (assuming Rodri cannot come back to the same level) is where I would prioritise.

#ManCity have started talks with Bournemouth to negotiate finer points of Antoine Semenyo's £65M release clause. Discussions are also expected to progress this week with the forward’s representatives - due in Manchester today to finalise personal terms.

and given that sky sports are still reporting the titanic sinking as breaking news this has prob been done for a while.

The club know about Rodri's state. My feeling is he will come back strong, this or next season. He can play another 3 years at top level. Even at 80-90% he would be valuable, given his experience and leadership qualities.

He definitely helps with squad strength but i only expect him to be a bit part player in the league for the rest of the season as the first x11 seems very settled.

He will start many games as Doku, Cherki, Foden and Haaland can't play twice a week till the end of the season.

If they start every 3 from 4 games, then Semenyo can start in most games. Factoring in Marmoush and Savinho, imo, Semenyo can start in half the league games, especially when the CL games come back.

It's sounding to me like we are getting him. No long drawn out saga. No agents demands, no bidding war, and semenyo said himself he wants this done quickly.

It all fits the mould of how we do things. I wonder if savinho is going.
