Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Yeah I can't see him becoming a regular over any of the players we have already this season... Maybe savinho but then he's a sub. He will certainly give us another option thigh.

I think he'll get the rest of the season to find his feet in our club, he already knows the PL so he'll hopefully be playing a big part in the run in. Especially the games where we need to unlock the opposition

I'm a big fan of him, he's been very good for a few years now but because he doesn't play for utd or Liverpool he's gone pretty much under the radar.

Well if he comes, then it's entirely up to him and how he performs to what Pep wants, no guarantees.
He'll be under no illusion he'll need to perform immediately. We'll be playing 3 games a week from now until March so they'll be lots of rotation. Good thing about this signing is that he's 100% ready to play

The Daily Fail doing their best to undermine us again - & “failing”. :-)

Indeed, it still remains to be seen as to whether Liverpool formalise their interest in Semenyo following the injury suffered by Alexander Isak.

The Anfield club are among five sides who have enquired about the Ghana international, alongside City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Despite City's acceleration, well-placed sources have indicated that Liverpool retain an interest in the attacker, with the transfer window due to open on 1 January.

As things stand, City are the only club to have made formal club-to-club contact with Bournemouth about Semenyo, although Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has close links to the south-coast club have worked at the Vitality Stadium.

Yes, that's what I meant by holding up the ball and activating a fast counter. I can see him coming for his physicality. If I was choosing though, I would be prioritising central midfield for that. A physical beast alongside Gonz (assuming Rodri cannot come back to the same level) is where I would prioritise.
If a player comes along who has a release clause and whose signing would significantly improve your squad, you make it.

How do you know that Rodri will not recover? We did well to bring in Gonzalez but what outstanding midfielder would join City now knowing that they are competing with Rodri and that also assumes such a player is available.

:-). We are now trembling (re the highlighted section above)

Trouble is they’re too thick to realise that reports like this only enhance our strength & standing when we successfully get the deal done leaving these other “big” clubs in our wake

We get options, which we will need.
This season we have defended deeper which has meant at times weve turned the ball over & tried to counter attack, Arsenal away comes to mind when we didn't have an out ball. Also Villa away we looked toothless & after the diabolical offside at Newcastle we never looked like breaking down their low block..

Expecting Semenyo to hit the ground running if he signs & replicating his stats for Bournemouth is folly, especially how teams defend differently against us & he plays more in a counter attacking system at Bournemouth.

Teams will be concerned about his pace & ability to beat a defender, something that is completely overlooked when rival fans are comparing the transfer to Grealish.
