Marmoush was excellent last season and has barely played this season (due to the incredible form of Haaland and Doku, and now AFCON). Trafford is hardly a "miss" as he's probably the best back-up goalkeeper in the league.

Savinho was essentially a signing under the former administration. Plus he still has some time to go, he's only 21.

Ait-Nouri hasn't had any time to show his quality as yet but I'm sure we will see it sooner rather than later.
Khusanov is still very young for a CB but has shown so much promise.
Reijnders I would agree looks like a talented but highly flawed player.

Nico G has hardly put a foot wrong to the point where we look very competent even without Rodri, which seemed borderline impossible a year ago.

None of these players have had enough time to judge completely.

Which is why I said 'yet' .......Disagree about Nico, he's decent, but miles off Rodri, our CMF is our weakness, the defence is as good as ever, but they can and do get 'got at" regularly, because of what's in front of them.

Correct, and the poster saying we should wait until summer is clueless. He’s only available for £60-65 million the first half of January. After that his price will be at least £80 million. As you say it’s a complete no brainer!

While I'm not against strengthening the squad we do have Stones, Aït-Nouri, Kovačić, Doku and Marmoush out, and we still had a bench including Trafford, Lewis, Aké, Khusanov, Rodri, Bobb and Savinho. Just because we had a couple of academy lads make up the numbers doesn't mean we didn't have quality to bring on.

I agree with you.

But all the top teams are pretty much in the same situation player wise, including injuries, etc

City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa.

PL, CL, FA Cup, and some in Carabao Cup.

You also have to factor in AFCON as well ATM.

I think only Arsenal have a better or equal squad than City. Liverpool aren’t far behind. Chelsea are a talented cluster fuck of a squad, and Villa and Newcastle have a much smaller and less talented squads.
