I can remember him bollocking Ned for crossing the halfway line against the rags late on at 0-0 against 10 men when we were safe from the drop and not scored at home since NYD.
 
For around 12 years, Liverpool have had some very good seasons but almost always followed them up with poor ones.

The only seasons they’ve gone back-to-back are 2018-19 with 97 points in second in the PL and winning the CL, then 99 points winning the PL in 2019-20. But after finishing 2nd in 2013-14 they finished 6th on 62 points the next season, after 2019-20 they finished 30 points lower the next season and after 2nd on 92 points in 2021-22 they finished 25 points lower the next season.

Things like that become a culture within a club. They have lost their old relentless mindset from the late 70s and 80s.

Very strange cycle, in any other sport it would be seen as something dodgy going on.
