There aren’t any right-wingers that post here. There are Trump supporters and anti-Trumpers. Wings might have something but absolutely not everything to do with it, a terribly inconvenient fact for conservatives caught supporting a lunatic authoritarian alleged pedophile.

Not a great fan of Daft Donald, but I doubt very much America needs shitty Venezuelan Oil when they have so much of their own, he'd be better off invading Scotland. Wonder if Our American Cousin is still on at the Ford theatre.

That’s pretty much where I am at but “the ends justify the means” isn’t a philosophy with which I am very comfortable, so I am uneasy. And if there’s one thing Trump has demonstrated throughout his entire life, it’s that he doesn’t think through — nor care about — the consequences of his actions on others, which makes me pessimistic that this ends well for them, especially given the poor quality and lack of credentials/experience of so many who advise him now.
 
I hear people mention that the US has enough oil and they may well have for domestic consumption.
However they are 9th in the league table of proven oil reserves.

Venezuela is numero uno. And oil is money.

Wiki can sometimes be misleading unfortunately, World Oil prices are extremely low at the moment and while Venezuela has vast reserves it's oil is of very poor quality and fetches even lowers price per barrel hence its low production rates. The USA for example produces 13 times as much oil as Venezuela does.
 
From what I've just heard, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio this was never a planned operation, which is the reason they have given for not briefing Congress via the Gang of Eight... but they just happened to have all the assets and resources in place to essentially carry out an armed assault on foreign soil and kidnap their leader???

Fair enough..Then given that oil is not the issue and that Venezuela is way down the list of narcotrafficing countries what exactly is Trump up to?

U.S. refineries are configured for heavy, sour crude

Most U.S. refineries invested billions in:
• Cokers
• Hydrocrackers
• Desulfurization units
These units are designed to turn cheap, thick, high‑sulfur crude into:
• Diesel
• Jet fuel
• Gasoline
• Petrochemical feedstocks
Venezuelan crude is perfect feedstock for these systems.
Light sweet crude (like U.S. shale) is too clean and too light — it doesn’t fully utilize the expensive refinery hardware

With Daft Donald in charge who knows I wouldn't think their oil is paramount just yet, regime change certainly their links with Russia possibly. I'm mainly interested how it works out for the people of Venezuela better or worse.

There isn't some moralistic reason they have done this. They aren't just going to magically fix things through force and then walk away empty handed. It's purely transactional.

The current US administration have spent months manufacturing some bullshit reason for what they are doing in the region with the 'drug boats' and 'oil embargo', and almost certainly broken multiple international laws and committed war crimes or straight up murder in the process by bombing unarmed survivors.

American Oil refineries do have the technology to work with Venezuelan crude but its expensive to produce the finished product, why bother when there's cheaper out there. Unless the Yanks intend nabbing Venezuelan crude for nothing of course.

Venezuela has the world's largest reserves.
If you were US Oil you might prefer to keep your own reserves if you could get Trump to provide access to Venezuelan reserves.
Chevron is the oil company currently drilling and extracting oil from Venezuela.

i wrote what I think about this situation above. But I used a lot of big words, and noted some moral principles I have admittedly. I’ll try to dumb it down for you next time. Forgive me as I am not sure what resonates with pedo-supporters. Actually I’m kinda glad about that.

That's exactly what trump wants. Venezuela nationalised the oil industry in 1967. American companies were the biggest losers. They still have facilities in the States to upgrade the oil.

Trump has said many times that the oil was stolen from them.

The cost is sunk - they have already invested billions in ithe type of refineries that process the Venezuelan crude. Their own oil is unsuitiable hence they need it to feed their refineries
 
For those that don't get the oil debate - type versus quantity here you go ...(not sure i buy the currency argument completely)
