26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Compare this to Savinho’s chance last night, one finishes swiftly while the other was never going to score.

That killer instinct and composure isn’t something that can be taught IMO. You either have it or you don’t, and Savinho doesn’t.

Because of that, he needs to excel in other areas of his game (Merlin wasn’t the best finisher but was amazing at everything else, for example) but he doesn’t.

Savinho and Sane should never be mentioned in the same sentence!!

One was an elite PL player. The other is a Championship level player.

People saying give him time??

Nearly 70 appearances for us now and 5 goals. It's Antony type stats and we ripped him to pieces.

At 21 Semenyo was a championship player worth 2million.
If he had been at City the same posters who clamour for the soon to be 26 yr old, would have dismissed him like they have with Savinho.
The problem is they do it over and over.

Their is a reason Pep plays him, and a club wanted to pay 50 million for him.
What reason is that?

13 assists (10 in the league) in his debut season is not basically fuck all though is it? Of all the players last year in their first season at a club, he provided the most assists in the league. In a team that was a mess for most of the season too dont forget.

If a 20/21 year old is doing that anywhere else, the same people wanting to get rid of him after 18 months would be wanting us to buy him.
How's this for fuck all then. Keep playing Savinho and we will win fuck all...

8 assists.

Have I missed something?

I keep reading/hearing that he picked up an injury last night, but whilst searching for details, all I'm seeing on here is criticism bordering on Edghill levels.

I was at Sunderland last night and whilst he wasn't brilliant, it never occurred to me for one moment that he was anywhere near our worst performer.

We're not talking about not being the worst performer. What kind of bar is that setting? Every once in a while ya get a chance to be the hero. This guy never takes that chance.

Don't forget it's 12 months since he arrived. Many of our players didn't make an impact until after that timescale.
That’s usually down to fitting into the positional plan. Theres nothing to suggest he’d suddenly become less disastrous at shooting suddenly just because he’s been here two years.

He’s also been here 19 months, not 12.

Missed a sitter.
Less than 3 minutes later, missed a one-on-one with the keeper.
Same-old, same-old.
Puts in a shift. I rate his defensive contribution highly.
Can beat defenders one on one - but this seems to vary and he's far less able if he's doubled.
But the biggest complaint is that his end product is extremely poor.
There are far better players out there and we're hurting our chances by starting Savinho instead of one of these.

@JewelZee I’m not sure why but I have this strong feeling you don’t really rate Savio Savinho?
It's not that I don't rate him. It's that at 21 he hasn't shown the goal scoring acumen to be getting starts for us let alone in a Prem race in January. This can be spun a million different ways but the reality is he's scored once in a season and a half of Prem football. Why would anyone have to debate that's not remotely good enough for us. That's not good enough for Wolves. Sell him on with a buy back or loan him out. If he becomes the player some on here believe he will be then give him a holler. Otherwise, all the best...

Savinho had the Sunderland full back on toast in that first half, who must have had to unfold himself in the changing rooms at half time.

Unfortunately, nothing he did ended up in a successful cross or shot.

It was very much a Doku performance from his first two seasons with us; exciting and dangerous up to the last thing he did which was shit so more than anything frustrating.

Anyone ignoring or who thinks the way Savinho was getting past the S’land full back was shit though is just posting in bad faith about a player they don’t like. He did more to get into good attacking positions in that first half than any of our players. He was better than Foden and Haaland managed in the full game.

The one thing that really wound me up was the way he got past their left back at one point, who pulled him back, and he stopped and asked for the free kick when he had got past him and could have got the cross in. I hate the way modern footballers are more bothered about winning a free kick than trying to score.

He’s wank mate you can say it.

Wanted to think about it a bit before I responded, because while I feel Rico and Nunes get criticized endlessly.. I somehow don't feel that way about Savinho..

Look at this..

Doku is clearly our #1 winger and chance creator. He also has a very good shot on him but when teams double/ triple team him.. he can't get it away and chooses to pass.. (something you just have to accept unless he moves inside and ghosts people like Gundogan would)

But with Savinho.. last season he had 10 assists and was one of the leaders in chance creation. Then after the new year.. almost nothing.

This season he has only a fraction of the chances created.. And that's something I noticed was terribly wrong last season.. no one could get the ball through to our goal scorers except Nunes so Pep turned to Nunes and played him down the stretch and he provided 14 G+A.

So while I'm sure some will "Richard Edghill hate due to their agenda's", think most of us with common sense just have a sense of disappointment.

And this is without talking about Savinho's shot/ goals.

Dribbling and crossing should be his best attributes...
