Bournemouth could quite easily refuse our proposed payment offer of three installments, then time could run out and they could demand any ludicrous fee. I don't think this is clear cut at all

If we offer to pay the full £65m in one go by the 10th, there's nothing they can do. If we don't want to, it'll be more difficult as they would likely get more for him in summer, but if we've got the cash, we can still pay it all on the last day.

It won't take long for him to have AN impact because allowing Cherki to move inside is one of the big positives of this move.
Have we worked out where Cherki's best position is yet. I think he's played well as an inside right but if Semenyo plays on the right, that displaces Cherki to the no.10 and possibly Foden to the no. 8. Another possibility is thatif Semenyo signs, one of Semenyo, Foden or Cherki will be on the bench. Neither is a problem as we need a strong squad which allows us to make subs. and changes from game to game.

I have been watching Semenyo play for Bournemouth over the last couple of games and he is given license to roam at Bournemouth. He is moving from the right to up front but he isn't going to get that flexibility at City. I also think that one of his strengths is carrying the ball from deep. That works at Bournemouth because they are often under pressure and counter-attacking is a big part of his game. Semenyo is ideal in that role because he can hold the ball under pressure, and he can go both ways, and score. City do not counter-attack so much.

Savinho beats defenders continually but has a poor end product. The stats show that Semenyo has a better end product but I question whether at City he will be able to beat defenders as readily as Savinho does, and as readily as he does playing for Bournemouth. I am still in favour of City signing him, but I don't think it will be a transformative signing. My opinion of him has gone down a little since the transfer speculation started. I have been watching him and he hasn't played well in that time. Perhaps the transfer speculation has got to him or Bournemouth are in a very poor run.

When we were first linked with him I thought great, we are replacing a 0 goal winger for a 9 goal winger (over half a season) but that was probably a bit simplistic. I think Semenyo got a lot of those goals because he is afforded freedom to play where he wants at Bournemouth and because he fits Bournemouth really well. That might not be the case at City. I still want him to sign but I don't think it's going to change the course of the season.

Well it’s not like you to put a negative spin on something! Given how many clubs are supposedly interested in him don’t you think it’s strange that none of them have nipped in and paid the release clause?

Marmoush doesn’t fit into the team. He can’t play on the wing or as an attacking midfielder. Alvarez managed to adapt to having Erling in the team in comparison.
I have come to this conclusion too. He is a very gifted player, but where does he play? We have not found a position for him. He is effectively covering Haaland.

I think anyone worrying that for games one of Foden, Cherki, Semenyo, Doku, etc will sit on the bench need to just look at the squad of the team we are behind in the title race.

Arsenal have 2 left wingers, 3 strikers, 2 right wingers and that is before you even consider Eze, Nwaneri or Merino who also play in the front three regularly.

Currently we don’t have that sort of depth and what depth we do have 2/3 (Marmoush, Savinho, Bobb) of the players contribute zero.

But Txiki, Hugo and Pep must have discussed it last December/ January about how it would work?!
I think for a few reasons the way we play has changed since then, plus Haaland has stayed fit.
Some of those reasons maybe; Linders changed some things, Doku becoming more consistent, width coming more from the improved Nunes and O’Reilly, using Cherki, Foden much more centrally. Semenyo just gives us more options than Marmoush and covers more positions.
Plus there is Marmoush himself, at nearly 27 he will want and probably deserves to be first choice somewhere and at Spurs or similar he would be.
I’m more than happy for him to stay but him moving on wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Correct the media used that as stick towards us saying we could put out 2 top teams and it’s not fair! It’s now a great positive for Arsenal to have a quality squad!

I guess it will depend on if Marmoush is happy to stay or if th opportunity comes now to sell him and get Anderson?

There’s supposedly 4 or 5 top clubs interested in him but not willing to pay £65m the chances of them getting more than £65m are slim especially if his form dips which it has in the last couple of games
