Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

we were running out of steam from early on in the second half especially in midfield but dont have squad to sort it out.....Rodri exposed and only cause of the player he is we got away with it....

Reijnders despite his goal is a liability - offers nothing defensively

Cherki and foden need to keep it simple especially Cherki who needs to learn to retain possession at times. - we created very little for Haaland who is looking increasingly isolated in the last few games.

We dont have the physicality to play both Foden and Cherki with only Rodri in there...with Nico G as well you could get away with it more I suspect

Said in the summer we needed to replace Ake (and Stones) and so it stands...Ake can barely run even after being on the pitch a few minutes...he is one stretch away from another injury at every point.

Also said we needed 2 left backs...NOR has done well but the last few games he has looked poor....You could look at RAN not being her but he was complete dogshit everytime he stepped ont he pitch so we can only hope he picks up his performances once he is back

Confirmed what I've been saying since the summer. We're just not ready to go for the league yet. We're still in the title race until we're not, and there's a long way to go, but this is a new squad experiencing a lot of change and we're gonna have days where nothing clicks.

Thought Pep made a mistake starting O'Reilly - the kid had looked goosed for weeks and it was him being caught upfield and tired that resulted in Chelsea's goal. All the injuries coming at the same time as Afcon is hurting us as well. Just take that on the chin, finish as close to Arsenal as we can, and get ready for the title next season.
We ain’t in a title race….not with that squad

Thanks to the lack of squad planning we are done in this title race. Foden and Cherki poor, Haaland poor finishing and everyone else just knackered. We probably win that if our main CBs stay on but there are no if, buts and maybes just absolutes. We should just aim to win the FA and EFL Cups from here on out.

Too many of them becoming injured or worn out.

For all his positives generally, I would have taken off Cherki for the last ten and stuck Rico right-mid, to give us a bit more defensively.

Unlucky on the goal, so many points where it was nearly nicked away. No crime in letting one in against Chelsea, but we should have scored more, that's what cost us.

If Gvardiol and Dias are out for more than a couple of weeks we're screwed. If one of them is out, we can maybe manage. Both? Forget it.

Game killer for me was the STUPID pass into Haaland, from Foden, WHEN CHERKI WAS FREE AND CLEAR TO HIS RIGHT!!

Fucking pissed me off that and I knew then we'd drop points!
That was the ball to play, Cherki in acres out to his right.

Foden was really poor today. When I seen Doku warming up I actually thought it would be Foden coming off with Reijnders dropping into midfield.

That was truly shocking. What an awful game of football. And what an awful performance from us, against a team who clearly weren’t interested. So slow and laboured. Cherki believing in his own press. Foden was utter dogshit and must be dropped. Criminal that we didn’t win that. The Gunners will be laughing their tits off, and rightly so.

we'd still be playing now if chelsea hadnt scored
awful defending even keeper shouldve punched it away at post

got what deserved though walking football which played into their hands

We forced everything through Haaland and ignored teammates who were free and better positioned to score. Cherki and Foden were both guilty of trying to funnel every attack toward Haaland instead of taking the obvious options. We were wasteful, predictable, and honestly a bit foolish in this match.

There were poor decisions all around—from Haaland himself, from Cherki, and from Foden—and instead of correcting it, they kept compounding those mistakes. It felt like the obsession with getting Haaland on the scoresheet took priority over winning the game, and in the end, that mentality cost us two points.

So who's coming in because Gvardiol is out a while and they're already thin there?
Is Dias injured? I’m not up to date on the injury status of all our defenders nor on the talent available beneath them.

But just to be clear, regardless of the above, I’m not advocating moving him out and leaving us a player short, I’m suggesting bringing a quicker defender in to replace him.
