Are they content having the pesky Ruskies and Chinese occupying the seas surrounding their country or would they prefer some kind of protection from the US? Quite a simple question really.... you can complicate it all you like by making all kinds of assumptions but the actual reality is West or East?
Going with the US would help reduce the risk of major conflict...

He was 100% right to call the NATO counties out for not putting in what they committed to.
I reckon he is trying to prove a point about defence spending….not sure what the point is.
Obviously if they just invaded (which they won’t) it would be completely wrong and would probably end him
The reality is that whether Greenland is under Danish sovereignty or independent, the strategic location means they'll always be kept on a short leash by the interests of northern members of NATO, including Canada, the UK and the Nordics. They can't defend themselves and NATO isn't going to allow them to align with Russia or China in any meaningful respect. Large majorities of Greenlanders support independence in polls and have done for years, but there's a reason Denmark isn't giving them a vote.

Mate, I don’t think Greenland is under any real threat from China and Russia is my point. Maybe I should have been clearer. While there’s a big debate here over Venezuela, there is no deep support in the U.S. nor anywhere for our nation using military force in Greenland. Even a good number of the cultists think that’s unnecessary.Errrr no.

Enlighten me - you don't think Trump could encourage the Greenlanders to demand a referendum/vote and $2m a piece wouldn't swing the vote his way ... Better than taking it by force and f uping Nato. All for slightly more than 10% of the US's yearly defence budget !Don’t give up your day job

I didn't say anything about paying the Danes ! His play would be to bypass the Danes - they keep saying they will respect the will of the Greenlanders - hence why i mentioned a referendum / forcing a vote. $2m for each person in Greenland would create a hell of a lot of momentum for a vote /referendum. Don't think it would have much impact on inflation - they don't produce much anyway - it is all imported ! Many of them might even opt to go to the US with their new found US citizenship.What do you think would happen to the inflation rate in Greenland if he did that?
