United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Lewis isn’t the problem. The real issue is that the club failed to sign defenders and full-backs when we clearly needed them. Instead, we kept buying attacking players, a position where we already have plenty of options. In my opinion, that’s poor prioritization from the sporting leadership. And now we’re paying the price for those decisions. Panicking and trying to fix it in the January window doesn’t help, when this problem has been obvious for a long, long time.

Usually try to be balanced and look for some positives here and there but today there were none. The only saving grace was Donnarumma keeping it down to 3-0, (EDIT er, 2-0 - had a “bollocks to this” moment, sloped off in a sulk and spoke too soon)- and Khusanov did his best in the face of an absolute onslaught.

That was one of the worst peformances I’ve seen for years. Out-fought, out-played, out-thought, out-everything. And against THEM of all teams.

Can’t even get upset about the Dalot incident because it’d have made no difference.

Embarrassing performance.

Bernardo and Donnarumma are the only ones who can leave the pitch with their heads held high.

Finally, Pep’s balls dropped in regard to taking Haaland out. What a disgrace he was out there, and I don’t say that lightly. He should have been subbed the minute Martinez threw him out of the way, and Haaland didn’t even attempt to win the ball back.

Foden HAS to play better, but I hope all the cries for Cherki become more rational. I have no idea why people thought he would have more control in the midfield with him. Sure enough, we didn’t, quite the opposite in fact. His awful free kick, followed by one of the worst efforts you’ll ever see to stop the counterattack leading to the opener, sums him up off the ball.

I’m stating the obvious, but Arsenal will coast to the title. We can get top four, win one cup, or possibly both cups(granted, we play A LOT better than we did today), and we can still have a potentially good season.

If that’s not a wake up call nothing will be.

Completely deserved for rags.

Our players didn’t want it.

Injury to defence and in general also has to be mentioned.

Players don’t seem to bust gut when we play badly.

As I say tho very good reality check. Embarrassed today and we have to take it and regroup.

Injuries have been awful for a while now. No escaping that either and it’s not an excuse.

We need to go again and we will.
