Let them have their moment. They will find their way back down to mid table before the end of the season. New manager syndrome, restrictions off, derby excitement, blablabla.
 
Injuries are ruining a second season in a row. Dias and Gvardiol are badly missed at the back and in the build-up play.

Relying on Stones and Ake to stay fit or help when we need them has been a big mistake. Both were past it after 23/24. Akanji was more versatile and fitter than them, should have been replaced in the summer (Guehi).

Making a mistake happens. Repeating the same mistake is unprofessional.

The experiment with Foden in midfield doesn't seem to have a bright future. A top midfielder is a must in the summer.

The squad has a great potential when everyone is fit. But injuries have undermined us again.

Let's hope we do much better in the cups. Haaland needs a rest, otherwise he'll be running on empty.

Pathetic performance, we have much better players than them, but they played like they actually wanted to win.

If we were unlucky and missed lots of chances etc you can accept it as football, but we were outcompeted and found totally lacking as a team

After Dalot and Shaw got booked, how many times did our wide players run at them?

Not once.

Rico waiting at the back post for the ball and fucking Dorgu beats him to it.

Time and time again we took the easy pass, rather than take a chance and trust your mate centrally.

And why Ake stayed on and Alleyne came off I have no idea.
 
Uneasy feeling all week about this game. It was their cup final season this season and there was no way they were going to be meek. Only minor consolation is that it merely gets them 3 points.

None of this excuses our performance. But no team can lose so many defenders and expect to win. That’s not an excuse for attitude but it’s a factor in the performance

Playing an off form foden over reinjinders or even cherki was a shocling decision
 
Firstly anybody who saw that defence knew we were in for a tough afternoon. How we got away with it against Newcastle is anybody's guess but to lose Nunes as well was the killer. People can point the finger at Pep all they want but no team can lose three first choice defenders and not suffer. Ake is obviously past his best and Lewis just isn't good enough. He had little choice though as we are down to the bare bones, only at left back does he have options.
Theys where you badly need your holding midfield players to protect it. Unfortunately Rodri had a stinker and Bernie wasn't much better. We can excuse a patched up rookie defence to a point but the rest of the more experienced players should hang their heads in shame.
Doku, Foden, Semenyo and Haaland were absolutely atrocious. No other word for it.
Not for the first time we have been outfought in a derby game and its not acceptable.
Our fading hopes of the league are dead and buried. We need to rest players there and just do enough for top four. Its all or nothing in the cups but unless we strengthen further and get some injured players back we have no chance in those either. If we get past Newcastle ( Not a given on today's showing ) Arsenal will absolutely batter us in the final if we play that defence.
The rebuild needs to be bigger than we thought and even more deadwood booted out of the door.
 
That was as poor as I have seen us for a while. We didn't turn up, weren't up for the fight, no intensity and we didn't have 1 shot on target. We gave their wingers too much space to go 1 on 1 with our fullbacks. Lucky it was only 2.
Our wingers need to realise also that you are allowed to cross the ball instead of endlessly cutting back and slowing the game down for them to pack the defence.

Cherki has it but for some reason Pep is sticking with Foden.

Having got it wrong in the first place Pep made it worse by leaving Ake on and taking Max off Why oh why he didnt use RAN from the start is as baffling as a decision as Ive seen, even more so as we lost Nunes on the the right. The man has been playing in ACoN so no excuse He then could have put NOR on to support Rodri in midfield this was down to Pep and Pep with their initial team selection I also wouldn't have chosen Phil who has been awful for the last 45 games or so that should have been Reijnders or Cherki I also dont care if Erling "is exhausted" more effort would have been nice His subs were too late after the HT ones
The team selection played right into the hands of the Rags who frankly are awful but, they showed spirit in their cup final I said earlier in the week that Pep needs to find his inner Bobby Man for derbies because frankly his record of late in them has been unacceptable They finally turned into 90's City when we played the rags.

Yeah I question that to Ake is so done, it shows every game so why don’t he get Ait Nuri the chance I don’t understand. His he also a wrong buy that we need to cope with?

But games like this why don't play
The best players? O’reilly should have started
