United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Aside from Donna, all the players should give up this weeks wages to charity. Dismal and shameful performance.

Don’t get the hype around Khus either reminds me of Otamendi last ditch tackles galore
He was the only after Donna, who fought and made a good game, so that‘s bullshit from you. Also the last matches he was one of the best.

A sign of how bad that was…they nearly got in behind us about 5 times in the first half (probably more) and Pep did that little to change things that they were still doing it in the 90th minute.

That’s horrific game management.

Nothing defensively he could do though surely? Available players at the moment are just meh

They had seven on target, and two on the woodwork (which are not considered to be on target). Three goals ruled out (one of them very tight). You can't argue with that, and yes, they were leaving one on us outrageously and getting away with it in the first half. Well you know what? I'd like to see that rage in a derby and elsewhere from us. We got physically bullied by Sunderland, Forest and Chelsea. And again today. We are not a physically imposing team. Say what you like about Arsenal, I don't think they're even as good as us technically (although they've got two or three players with plenty of skill), but they impose themselves physically when nothing else is working.
No excuses. You can't argue with this result. No excuses.
In the first half both foden and Lewis were jumping out of tackles, inexcusable in any game let alone a fucking derby

Ruined my entire weekend.

Pep's weakness for Lewis is shameful at this point. Lovely lad, but not the required standard. If our manager sees otherwise, it's massively concerning. We had an international level full back on the bench, play him.

Phil is pissing his career away. One step forward, two steps back. It's been this way for a while. He won't be anywhere near that England starting 11 in the summer.

Haaland, what in the name of fuck has happened to him? He just looks uninterested.

Khusa and Alleyne looked good enough, there's a colossus in Khusa but he needs more experience and better players around him.

Rodri was pulling strings but had a bigger burden than Atlas, completely alone. Still not 100%.

Semenyo and Doku were poor. Both opposition fullbacks were cautioned from the tenth minute; use your fucking heads, lads.

Cherki was poor but he's our future. Wouldn't kill to see him start a game.

Donna. Immense. Best keeper in the league and he's owed ten drinks.

We're still a good distance from challenging, in my opinion. Pep isn't going to change his ways, he strives for perfection but so many variables need to fall in place for that to work; we won't see a Centurions level team again. So the question to ask is does he have the energy or time to build another league winning team, nevermind a dynasty? I don't think he does, not anymore.

Hopefully we do well in the cups and get at least something this year

Sadly not the Prem
Like your optimism but judging on the tripe and onions that was served up by the team today I would not put my money on it.

The most of that team today needs to sit in a room of mirrors and take a good look at themselves and question their commitment and attitude after that non performance. Not acceptable, not by any stretch of the imagination. If any of those players think otherwise then please fuck off asap, we want commitment, honesty and fight above any result. If you get beat then fine, but go down fighting and leave nothing left on the pitch. Same for the management as well.

Our defence was entirely 2nd choice or a mixture of 2nd and 3rd choice. The optimism before the game was misplaced.

Plus, they were much fresher than us and got lucky to avoid that red card offence.

Poor planning on our side re: the set of defensive players with whom we entered the season.

Played right into Uniteds hands today, it was clear they would be up for it, crowd cheering anything and with misplaced passes and lack of intensity - that what they wanted. What hurst the most is the lack of passion and effort, one team wanted it and one didn’t. Playing with 10 men with Haaland who was outmuscled and fought by a fucking midget. Even when we was shite and limited on ability, we put a shift in. Haaland sitting out for a few games is needed, different option down the centre needed as Musaka had more touches
I agree with the lack of fight shown in every outfield player (bar maybe khusanov) and every fucking one of them needs to look at themselves to see if they actually want to play for City and at this level because not one of them showed they did today.

Maybe we could also expect more from Pep -who many label as the best to ever manage- to eliminate the only threat they had in us playing such a high line with next to no pace in our back 4. How can he continue with it after two close escapes first half and when it's so obvious that's their only plan?

Out thought by Michael fucking Carrick? And the other week done over by Chelsea's u13s manager? Where is Peps level and his standards dropping to?

Whatever. We lost. Get over it. This game does not represent our whole season. But they had a good day with a full squad. No team can manage game after game with 4 main defenders out. We’ve sorted the problem but unfortunately not in time for this weekend
I'm over it as I expected it as soon as I saw the two team sheets...one defender of sorts one problem

It actually does represent our whole season....mostly poor

Gifted the cunts an FA cup 2 seasons ago. Now a piss poor 3 points. No aggression fuck all.
Fucking infuriating isn’t it! Pep really needs to stop telling everyone in the media and the team how wonderful the rags are in the week building up to games. I don’t know whether it’s some reverse psychology bullshit but it doesn’t work!

I don't think we are quite at panic stations yet. But it does feel that we are probably the most stale we have been in about 10 years.

United also finished second and some other decent positions as they descended further and further from their glory days

No matter what the table says right now, it's clear we are not contenders anymore unless we fix things. That's why we're on the same trajectory the rags were 10 years or so ago, unless we put it right

He is indeed not the level required, but by around 11am tomorrow there will be a rearguard to tell us it's not his position, he's a scapegoat, that we're not real fans, that Pep sees him everyday, I'll trust Peps judgement thank you etc etc. However, we saw what we saw, unfortunately can't unsee it. Abysmal.
