Re Max, I think the opposite, I don’t think he should be dropped
I think he should play at the earliest opportunity to show we have faith in him. He was top a Newcastle and a bit of a shaky game shouldn’t mean he’s turfed out

I do something with Haaland, Doku and Foden though. Whether it’s dropping them, giving them a bollocking, I don’t know. But performances like that should be unacceptable - maybe I’m just lashing out and what I suggest isn’t practical but that sorry excuse for a performance really pissed me off. I’ve woken up more annoyed than I was when I went to bed

Those 3 are clearly taking the brunt of the criticism. But Cherki was wank when he came on. Same with all the subs. That's why I'm tempted to just park it as 'one of those days' and see how the team reacts against Bodo/Wolves.

He had no choice. Who would you have played at right full back? On the left, I think he chose Ake for his experience considering the absence of choice at centre back. We are down to the bone in those positions.

He had a choice, he had two left backs both whom would have filled in in at right back and left back. He would still have Rico and Ake on the bench.
The moment Carrick saw that team sheet, he would have been straight on the phone to the GPC.

What was going on with corners? Why did Doku take the first corner - he is very low down on the list of potential corner takers in my view. He doesn’t have the technique, as was demonstrated
I'd have thought that a winger who should spend a lot of time crossing the ball might be a decent option for taking corners.

The consequences are that they lost another 2 points that would've taken them closer to Arsenal. There's little point in being hysterical or overreacting (I'm talking about Pep and the coaching staff). The important thing is to understand why it happened and then deal with those reasons.

For example, I felt like Max/Ake on the left got bullied in the first ten minutes of the game and it completely shook the entire team's confidence and gave United's crowd something to get behind. Does that mean that Max should get 'dropped'? Doesn't matter because he's a kid who is going to be replaced by Guehi anyway. Should Ake get dropped? Well, I would assume the only reason he played was so that Max had an experienced defender next to him rather than NOR. This isn't an excuse for the entire performance btw, just an observation about one of the many things that will have affected the way they played.
You could give Confucius a run for his money with all that bollocks. Rule number one - Every player should be chomping at the bit for a derby, whatever the circumstances.

Don’t get me started on Cherki…..the freekick, putting his hand up for a throw in when 10 yards from the touch line, trying to chip it past Luke Shaw on the halfway line. He did my head in!

But you’re probably right, though. A very bad day at the office and just make sure something like that never comes close happening again

We didn't deal with a totally predictable United team, with a set-up that any of us could have predicted. They reverted to type - ditching everything "Amorim" - and knew that if they bided their time, they'd get their breakaway chances, and we wouldn't be able to live with the pace.

That could have been negated by setting up like we did at Arsenal this season, where we sat much deeper than usual.

We used to chant "It should have been 10....." Yesterday, but for The Don and some very marginal offsides, it could have been 10 for them!

Over to you, Mr Guehi, to stabilise the defence and hopefully turn the season around for us. Anyway, thank God we don't have to play the scum again this season.
That's about it.

pick ourselves up and we go again, this games in the history books now, shit happens and they caught us on a bad day with injuries at the back, new man in today or tomorrow, the future is good

That was weird plus Ake and him passing the ball just the over the sideline so it was out three times if not more when hitting a short pass

Whilst injuries aren't an excuse you have to feel losing both Gvardiol & Dias in one game along with Nico G does go some way to mitigating things. Yesterday was on par with Villa a couple of seasons ago as the worst performance i've seen under Pep. You knew all week they'd be up for it. New (old) managed bounce. 5 days to prepare. Returning players etc. Add to that the back four that city went there with and you knew it'd be difficult. A friend of mine pointed to our attack but when have we ever really abandoned control to go toe to toe and try to outscore an opponent. Nunes being out completely killed us as an attacking outlet to help support the winger and we also rely a lot on his pace sweeping up - which would have been a decent tool to negate their threat on the counter too. The youngster Alleyne has looked really promising but you knew he was going to be chastened at some point - it's part of the growth - but it highlights why signing Geuhi was so fundamental because that back four will lose game after game in its current guise. But beyond that - the derby was always an outlier - dropping points to Chelsea and Brighton are what have killed us and I think a result/performance like this was coming. Both full backs on a booking and we don't run at them afterwards (seem to do this a lot), Foden neglecting to shoot despite it being one of the biggest assets we have, Haaland stood about like a statue offering nothing. Everyone taking too many touches. Cherki's half-arsed free kick and pathetic attempt at a challenge afterwards. Slow ponderous attacks and floated balls into the box which left us constantly at risk of a counter etc. The list goes on. But ultimately it is only one game. Arsenal dropped points again. And we will improve. Hurts because it made United look better than they are and gives that entitled bunch of pricks something to wank about on Monday morning. Suppose its quite endearing to see how it's all come full circle - derby's as a cup final - but it certainly doesn't feel like it right now! Onwards and upwards and I still think we'll have success and win something this year. Next season we'll win the league. CTID

Phil is an excellent player. It was Pep choice to play Ake who can barely run, at full back and Rico, who is also a liability. Playing those two, was a gift that they grabbed with both Agree re the

I agree re the defence and formation.Ake is a centre half he could have played Kusa at RB and OReilly left with Ake in the middle.Or the actual LB he spent millions on and OReilly in midfield instead of his pet dog Bernardo.Foden has to do more than just lay the ball off and recycle though?Pep's already letting Silva get away with that every game. Either Phil is indet instruction or he's having a bad run.Either way it won't cut it if we want to win major trophies. We've been used to KDB D Silva Gundogan Nasri YaYa and even lynchpin Rodri creating and scoring goals. The fact is we have not looked like scoring in many games recently.

Foden hasn’t been great but Pep again is playing him differently for me more of a silva type of coming deep picking the ball up passing it wide or back then he is one of the main pressers! Pep has done this since he came with players play them out positions! Semyno can play both sides but would been nice just to see him switch with Doku for a bit.

Teams in a transition it could be middle of next season we see it coming together better..

There's still a ridiculous amount of points to be played for, never mind the Champions League/Carabao/FA Cup. My take on the team as a whole this season is that they're about where I expect them to be. Guardiola has done a remarkable job when you look at the turnover in players, and the challenge of going from players who are the finished article, to players who you. need to help develop into the finished article.

The important thing is that the overall direction of travel is incredibly positive.

Practically every cross Doku has ever put into the box for City has been a low one, even when he can clearly see that defenders are massed in front of him and Haaland is stood towering above them at the far post .... he is clearly not an ideal corner kick taker, yet they allow him to do it, it just beggars belief at times, and it just throws away any advantage that we might get from one.

Probably the most sensible post of the weekend. This was their cup final but we're behaving like it was ours too.

They haven't played 6 in 16 days, been hit with injuries, and had the almost inevitable boost of a change of manager which more often than not seems to make a difference.

If we're saying it meant more to them then that's because over the course of the season it did - it's all they have. It's done, we put 3 past them at ours so if you want to talk about bragging rights...let them have their day in the sun.

Onwards an upwards, WE have a lot more to play for.
Yeah fuck utd, but I'm more concerned about how our performance levels have been bang average these last two seasons barely putting in top performances anymore but eeking results out. The new players who have come in over that time look a shadow of who they replaced, was always going to be mission impossible i guess but still they're a huge downgrade.
I think Pep has to win some trophy this season otherwise I think we'll be seeing a new boss at the helm next season

I dont think Max was that bad at all. When a young player makes a bad pass everyone says he's a kid but players like Rodri were making bad passes so what's the difference. He shouldn't have been taken off and I was surprised when it happened. Pep got it wrong yesterday.

The back 4 should have been Ait Nouri at LB, Ake, Max and Khus at RB. With Nico alongside Rodri in the middle.. We had 3 out of the 4 usual back 4 injured and only one available. In what world does that one not start, only in Peps world! I honestly find it truly unfathomable not to have started Nico or Ait Nouri at left back. Beyond crazy.

If it's any consolation, I was decidedly not fucking Confucius at the full time whistle. I think my exact words were "sell every one of them, buy them back, and sell them again."

Player turnover! Injuries. Weird how some fans can’t see logic to it! Yes were shit move on see where we are end of the season!

I was talking to someone on another thread who was Pep out, whereas I was saying he’s done a good job this season all things considered

Get Gheui settled with Dias, get Rodders fit and resolve whatever is going on with Haaland and we’ve every chance for the Champs League. We’ve already won in Madrid, so we have shown we can get results against very good teams
