United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not sure if the response is for me because its stating things I haven’t said or highlighted. Not complained about moaners other than response being OTT.
Was a shit show on Saturday, that I can agree on. Let’s hope there’s a reset and we move onwards and upwards.
No, not having a go at you specifically but generally commenting upon the difference between those on your 'side' and 'us', if you like.
As I see it, the unhappy ones give their specific reasons for being so, but the ones calling them 'entitled' (that old chestnut) or impatient don't counter any of their arguments (for some, it was the lineup, for me and others it was the tactics) but just throw out 'we're in transition' or similar.
We were in transition when we played arsenal, but we approached that with a different mindset because the circumstances demanded it. We did no such thing on Saturday.

This thread is barely any different to those during the dark times of January '25 - we aren't transitioning very quickly, are we?

I bet when the rags saw our back four on Saturday it must've given them a huge lift, three totally inexperienced under 22 year olds and a 50% fit Ake. We were never winning that game in a million years
I'd say we were never going to keep a clean sheet in a million years but I didn't expect us to be so shite and toothless upfront....

The 'we're in transition' line, as you refer to, is a good one. It's generally wheeled out on the back of a duff performance or result and then gets stowed away again when we win.

Listening to the rags today you would think they have turned into prime 70's Brazil. Apparently haaland was shackled by the midget and it's nothing to do with him being off form for the last 8 or 9 games.
They won because we were shite with a makeshift back four and a 30% fit rodri on his own in midfield, but listening to them today they seem to think they beat us in our prime, they never learn the simple cunts, the sooner they are back in 10th the better

Fuck me are folk still going on about Saturday?
Get over it, all the moaning and skriking isn't going to change anything.

Move on, we got bigger fish to fry, tomorrow is huge, start looking forward not backwards.
Leave team 99 and their Derna in the past.

I very much doubt that our back four was anywhere near as integral to our build-up back then. Not that we played a back four that day, it was 3-5-2.

Schmeichel
Dunne Wiekens Mettomo
Jihai Berkovic Foe Tiatto Jensen
Anelka Goater
I’d back that lot, at their current age, to put a better shift in than the poor effort on Saturday. Including Foe.

Your point would be more valid, if the tactical f*ck-up wasn't the identical one that we watched throughout last season - high line with totally unsuitable personnel to sustain it.
At what point would you say posters are justified in being ticked off about repeating the same mistakes, then?
And what do you expect to see change, going forward?

Edit: I forgot to point out that this is the post-match thread. That's probably why people are still 'going on about Saturday' in it.

We do but the drop off in talent is clear for all to see. We’re a good team, we were an outstanding team. But, that’s the cyclical nature of fitba.
I don't disagree, but the point I was trying t make was that our previous team was exceptional. We achieved things no other team had or will achieve again. But at the end of the day, we don't need to be as good as we were then, we just need to be as good as the other current teams to continue to compete at the highest level.

Our worst ever performance under Pep and it was obvious after fifteen minutes that something was wrong, with our slow makeshift defence (none of whom started the previous derby) exposed by United's lightening counter attacking pace.

Almost a reversal of 20 years ago when United had one eye on their midweek CL fixture and Stephen Jordan was in Ronaldo's face from the very first minute
This time it was United kicking City to bits and City resorting to petty shirt pulling when Taylor was obviously letting a few challenges go unpunished

I know that it's not the accepted norm to encourage mindless violence, but every now and then you need a bit of a Ben Thatcher mindset to accidentally elbow Mainoo in the face in the first few minutes and then see whether the ref is brave enough to make the right call.

Dalot should have been red carded but I honestly don't think it would have made that much difference as even when we had a couple of 3 v 2 opportunities, we still chose the wrong option or overhit the pass to the spare man

Also, too much slow recycling with Doku preferring to pass to the less skilful Ake than running directly at his opponents

Anyway things could have been a lot worse
Much of what you say is how I feel except for the mindless violence bit. You know as well as I do that any indiscretion by one of our lads is going to be a red card, if not by the ref then by VAR

The only pundit I'm aware of who hasn't said it should have been red is Neville, who was on co-commentary. Strange that.
The prick needs fucking off sick to death of hearing him screaming in the background when he’s doing a rags game and they score. His dickhead scouse bezzy mate does it aswell

Genuinely heard one of the worst conversations on the train home, two obnoxious red bastards talking about the game. Had to control myself not to tell the fuckers to shut the fuck up. You’d think they’d finished above us for 13 years straight, not the other way around.
