Right back options

Nothing recent about it. In my view he hasn’t bossed any game since signing, let alone the ones you reference.

I liked him at Porto and was intrigued when we signed him but imo he absolutely would not get in any of our Pep era midfields.
He is a 6.5/ 10 player most games for me. Saying that he is better than fucking Reijnders who is a 2/10 most games.

Our signings since the treble have been absolutely diabolical. Let’s hope these last two start to reverse that!

Neither would Tonali, Bruno G, Anderson or Rice. Our midfield during the peak Pep years was an unbelievably high bar. Comparing anyone coming in now to that standard ignores just how exceptional those midfield options were.

I also think it's harsh to take shots at Nico G. He’s been asked to step into the role of the best defensive midfielder in the world, in a side that’s less settled and more exposed than any Pep team he's played in before. That's not an easy task for anyone.

Statistically, Nico has actually been very impressive. He ranks high for interceptions, tackles, duels won and ball recoveries, and his passing accuracy under pressure is brilliant. He does a lot of the dirty work that allows the team to function, even if it doesn't always stand out.

It took Caicedo well over a season to find his feet at Chelsea and Declan Rice walked into a settled Arsenal structure. Nico G hasn't had that luxury.
If we'd signed him 3/4 seasons ago, into a dominant and well-oiled Pep side, he'd have settled far more easily I think. We've seen far less talented players - Zinchenko, Delph etc play key roles because the structure supported them to do so. Nico deserves some time to develop, he's only 23.

Like the sound of Read at Feyernoord. Looks a top prospect and Nunes right now doesn't deserve to lose his spot but good to have competition there

he is a project player, are we ready to wait if he comes good ?

It doesn’t ignore how exceptional those midfields were. It does the opposite and it shows how far the standards have dropped.

Rice has also only just started to justify his price tag after being moved from a 6 to an 8. People don't realise how hard it is to find and buy world class talent as good as you had before. Liverpool took 30 years to win a title arsenal 23 and counting rags have gone 10+ Chelsea still seem far away despite spending billions spurs was it 1960? Newcastle? These are the biggest clubs in the country!!!

I’d have hoped the academy boys would have been queuing up to play RB since Kyle walked out. Currently the easiest route into the side.
funnily enough the other day i was searching City's U21s

i found Brooklyn Nfonkeu who primarily is a right winger, but CFA plays him in RB according to https://www.transfermarkt.com/brooklyn-nfonkeu/leistungsdaten/spieler/1052335

according to https://www.fotmob.com/players/1624460/brooklyn-nfonkeu he is decent

We should go for Livramento or Vanderson in the Summer.
I just don't see it with Livramento, especially given the fees that were being thrown around in the summer. His injury record is also a concern, we've got enough defensive crocks as it is.

More posters seemed to want Livramento due to his homegrown status rather than anything to do with his ability. Given the signings of Semenyo and Guehi, hopefully we're in a better place with HG quota and can cast the right back net a little wider.

Never fancied him myself and his injury record makes him even more of a risk. I agree that the main attraction seems to be he’s home grown and he can play left or right.
Strange that Cancello fell out with Pep over lack of playing time, given the state we’re in now…

Get your point but feel that we are better off without Cancello at the club. Pep would definitely agree,

Not saying he should be here but we have gone from him and Walker to having no fullbacks which is perplexing.

Some of the " forward planning" has definitely not been up to scratch but it is to be hoped that lessons have been
learned and we are now more proactive.

Perhaps try and advance the progress of promising younger players within the club, assuming that Pep agrees with that.

Walker, Zinchenko and Cancelo was working very well on the pitch. I sometimes think that we might have managed the Pep/ Cancelo situation better but don't really know the full story.
Porro, Couto and Kabore only getting as far as the Etihad canteen is also a weird one.
Kabore was at the Afcon last week and Porro and Couto are both in CL teams.

That`s right he is another midget CB, should fit right in with Gvadiol, Dias, Ghuehi, Ake and Max. And out of that lot he has the worst awareness, and poor footwork, he is quicker and stronger, than all those, but then our RB legend also was, and Khusanov has better awareness and footwork than our legend.
