The Labour Government

I’m surprised they’ve blocked him. Very weak leadership.

I can see Labour losing that seat now, which is fucking crazy. They should be weighing Labour votes in inner city Manchester, never mind counting them.

The crazy thing is I was a big Starmer fan. I’m pro-EU, social democrat Blairite Labour in my politics. I really wanted Starmer to succeed and I was excited when he won.

If people like me are turning away they must be well and truly utterly fucked.

If the Tories did the sensible thing and sacked off all the culture war nonsense and went to capture the centre ground of sensible politics based on sound economics I would happily vote for them at this point.

There must be millions of politically homeless folk like me out there.
What are the Lib dems doing?

Remind me again how Hitler and Trump got elected. Did no single vote matter?
One single vote got Trump in? He won by one single vote? I never knew that i apolog.... oh he didnt.

And you mentioned Hitler a sure sign of having nothing to offer.

As I said just the one poster who was mulling over Labour or greens and mentioned allowing reform in, that was the context as you are aware.

No need to reply I'm watching the footy, pedantic bollocks by a Labour guy is not of much interest to me at this time.

Not sure what else Starmer could have done. The only reason Burnham, seemingly, wants to become an MP is to become Prime Minister. That's virtually a coup by political oppoonents of Starmer. He can hardly help them in that coup himself, that would be stupid! Starmer was elected PM by the public, not sure someone else should become PM by virtue of a small faction (MP's) clubbing together.

For me Burnham's a **** - don't care what he's done in Manchester his disregard for politics because of his ego. The way the situation is now he threatens Manchester with possibly a Reform Mayor if he steps down. If he stands in Denton and Gorton he had no guarantee of winning. If he did win he then has to undermine his own Party leadership to fulfil his ambition - thats not adhering to Party discipline.

If he thinks he is dipped in chocolate and an irresistible offering leave the Mayorality and stand as an independent. Win with a massive majority and ask the NEC to allow you to join ................... thats not how he works and what he has done now is display that as a Scouser he'd drop Manchester if it suits him so he has probably lost his job anyway - thick **** - like all politicians listening to "advice" rather than having a mind of their own.

Absolutely no point in any one person voting then. Not one of them will affect the result.

It's the pedants' revolt.

BBC NW Tonight Molly Brewer's Report on Burnham contains eight interview clips all lamenting him being blocked.
Very balanced - no mention of the reason given by the NEC being the extra cost and risk of Reform winning of two year early mayoral election. (A single vote for him being allowed as a candidate by Lucy Powell.)

Personally, I think the call to not allow him to stand is a good one. I always think that you should get the best person for the job, and it looks like there was huge pressure to put Burnham in, regardless of what was needed in that area.

Just think, get the nod to run, and regardless of if you get the job, Reform get the Mayoral election and completely fuck the area over.

It’s obviously more nuanced than that, and then there’s the point of Starmer keeping a rival out. The question for me is, why would he have to?

And at this moment, I’d say that Labour are pulling themselves apart behind the scenes and, as usual, will do fuck all to look after those that they are their to support while they infight for power.

Labour, a party who love to be in oposition.

Seems its still beyond you or are you being dishonest?

You come back after the election and we will deduct one vote from Labour, if it made a difference i will give a charity £100.

I will say it again slowly for you i f t h a t p o s t e r v o t e s g r e e n t h e r e s u l t w I l l b e t h e s a m e, there will be no mass or any alteration in everyone else's vote. One discussion on here and and one x will do nothing.

Its that straightforward, its not a campaign against tactical voting. Now kindly move on.

Tactical voting needed now in Denton to stop the cunts getting in. Do we still vote Labour or Green now? Personally think the Greens have a better chance to topple Reform.
