Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

In recent weeks Pep has been out manoeuvred by two interim managers and now the about to be fired Frank. Hate to say it but hooks like he’s totally out of ideas.

Was going to say the same
Its becoming a theme , at half time pep is being out coached by coached who 2/3 years ago werent worth shining his shoes

In fact it was role reversal. We would go in at HT 2 down KNOWING pep would come up with a half time tweak and come out and win

Time waits for no man

The tactics are the issue, the players have no hope in the way we set up, they get no joy out of playing the way Pep wants them to, and Cherki even came out and said as much the other day.

And I think I feel the same way. This squad of players could easily challenge for the league, Arsenal aren’t even that good man for man.

We’re better than Arsenal man for man. Arteta plays a boring style of football to get the maximum from his side which is why they’ll win the league this season.

We’re in denial about the football we play and seem unable to accept we’re equally as boring as Arsenal. Yet we play a style that limits our best players.

If I was him I would be angling for a move. Our tactics are fucking awful. We give him nothing. Just a painful slow build up by which time he has 3 defenders in him. Not once today did our full backs even look to get forward and put a cross in
Crosses came in - he's just out muscled or too slow to react to them. He doesn't even look that interested or committed to the team cause. His body language is terrible.

I think we shouldn't be too negative. I was cautiously optimistic at the end of the 1st half. But given what happened yesterday at Chelsea who came back to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down at half time i knew we could have some problems in the 2nd half. The VAR decision didn't help . We expect fairness but don't get it lately. That never stopped us before, as with Pep we just got on with it and invariably overcame the bad decisions with a vastly different and superb possession based style which changed football. But football has changed again as the press is now back with 90% of teams in PL committing to it.
This team is very young . We have played the youngest team in the CL in recent matches according to Pep Lijnders in his pre match presser. They have had to adapt the need to press and attack when required. Pep has basically agreed with all of this even though his own philosophy works within it. See the pre match press conference for the detail.
Lets just get a grip of ourselves dust ourselves down and get ready for the next one. Be glad we didn't actually lose the game Yes as pathetic as that 2nd half was we didn't totally capitulate. We are still 2nd. That's important. They're young. They'll learn.

Pep's at fault again ?
You are allowed time to go and support a political cause, which tells me you're not fully here for the fight
Look, if you are leaving, just come out and say so because the team is speaking for you by giving up and waving the white flags and walking around clueless

Haaland is a major problem right now, NOT A SINGLE SHOT AT GOAL, walking, pointing, smiling, looking like a joke of the old Haaland
Pep II did the press conference very well.

Spurs spent almost the entire game massed in defence. Haaland was bottled up but he did come deeper and bring others into the game. Reijnders went very close from one of his lay offs.

Haaland's not on form is fair comment but I would not say he is a major problem.

Chances missed isn’t on pep but asking the team to defend deep and make sure it at least ends 0-2 is down to him

It's so right in front of your eye's NO manager, just let the team stroll about at 2.0 up
Pep did fuck all about it he was not shouting or screaming, just nothing

If you believe we are shite now I hate to think what we will be like next season when Bernie goes. he continually has to do the work of 2
And that's it. The world class players we had where time catches up with them, it's so difficult to replace these players with similar qualities. We've been blessed the last few years with an incredible squad of players. These are good at times but no where near the quality.

Don’t fool yourself

Once the pace of a game goes above “walking” pace we simply can’t react or match it.

We have no legs in the middle, our wide players don’t work hard enough, and our full backs are brittle.

Bernie, Geuhi, and Don were all good. The rest were a shambles.
