Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

I have been doing my usual thing of looking for the evidence of not being cheated against. Just because I cannot trust my own bias, and I just dont see things evening out this season lately. Last few games like the OP said, and I have been waiting for that proof that I am going nuts, but its not coming.

There were a couple of incidents today at 2-2 where the ref could have sent off Rodri or give an easy free kick to them around our box and thats good... But overall I am seeing when it goes to VAR what we expect to happen doesnt, or that all of the 50/50s go against us.

I also try to remember that our club would be all over this if there was a high chance we were being cheated on. I dont know how but surely someone at the club is cataloguing all of this (And the strange decisions some of our opponents get), looking at trends and such.

But whatever, when you remain silent about it as a club it doesnt make the issue go away, we should be making lots of noise despite it all being met with stupid ironic headlines.

Would you say we get a fairer shake in Europe? Bar the final where someone with a documented Madrid bias led pep to change the team.

I don't watch many games for other teams but we do get seem to get kicked around the park to no real punishment. Which just kills the joy of watching it.

It's becomes difficult to look at incidents x, y and z because there may be similar situations in other games. So without some running stat of who does and doesn't get something, it can be hard to prove.

But the most egregious recent one being the clear red in the final last year. There has to be malintent to let that slide. And every aspect of the game be it media, refs, fa has bias embedded to the red cartel.

Another issue is we as a fan base just take everything on the chin, myself included. Whereas others may kick up a fuss.

We never complained about anything when we were head and shoulders better than anyone else. Because if we got one ruled out we just went and scored another goal. If a team got a dodgy goal no one bothered because it usually meant we won 5-1 instead of 5-0. Fans of a good teams don't need too complain about shit decisions. Just goes to prove that these days were just like everybody else.

Thought it was worthy of a thread to get genuine opinions about it.

I’ve never been one for the conspiracy really of the referees being against us. Up until this season that is.

But I think that’s only because we’ve been successful so dodgy decisions didn’t ‘matter’ too much in the grand scheme of things. A bit like the Wolves handball last week, we won so swept under the carpet.

But so far this season we’ve had;

1. Newcastle offside goal
2. Newcastle no penalty for handball
3. Newcastle no penalty for a late tackle on Foden (of which, Fulham got a penalty for today!)
4. Haaland wrestled to the ground today, VAR admitting it was a foul but not given because the corner hadn’t been taken
5. Guehi kicked today, Solanke can only score by kicking through our player, no foul
6. The horrendous ‘offside’ disallowed goal away at Newcastle in the cup
7. The Dalot red card a couple of weeks ago

They’re just major decisions and ignoring how every week teams are allowed to kick the shit out of us without booking - Gallagher must’ve given away 7/8 fouls today with no booking. Yet as soon as we do a similar foul we’re shown a yellow.

Same way we’ve watched goalkeepers time waste from minute 1 at our place for years without being carded/rushed along but as soon as Ederson/Donnarumma do it, they’re cautioned/told to hurry up.

Going further back there’s the Rashford goal in the 22/23 derby which has somehow been brushed over and the transcript/audio for it has never been released.

We seem to be refereed differently and I’ve always assumed it was me with blue tinted glasses on until you see the same decisions going the opposite way to what we given against us:

1. Semenyo goal/Haaland offside against Newcastle in the cup - the same ‘rule’ ignored 2 days later when Arsenal played Chelsea and the goal was given in favour of Arsenal despite Gyokeres doing the same thing Haaland did.

2. Foden not getting a penalty away at Newcastle in the league after getting fouled after the shot…Fulham getting a penalty today for Jimenez being fouled after taking a shot.

3. Pep has been carded FOUR TIMES this season by referees yet you see Arteta essentially tackling players on the pitch every week and leaving his technical area with no retort.

Then there’s the 5cm rule which seemed to come and go after being used all of once.

There’s no doubt more I’m missing but I’m starting to become a little disillusioned with it all to be honest. Every week you can guarantee a combination of niggly poor decisions which affect the tempo, feel and momentum of the game as well as a big decision (or two, or three) which stitch us up out of points.

And it’s an all too easy connection to make that we’re obviously not the league’s favourite club in the past few years given the charges that have been lingering for nearly 4 years over the club’s head. Add to that, Pep calling them out for being shite.

Personally, I think VAR discussions should be broadcast both on TV and in the stadium. It’s too easy for them to manipulate decisions when fans have no clue as to what is actually happening. Also not sure how it’s been deemed right and fair that fans pay hundreds of pounds a year to watch football and can go up to 6/7 minutes without knowing what the fuck is going on while some prick miles away is fiddling about with lines on a computer.
Find it hard to believe you have only just arrived at this view.
Have you been living under a stone for the last decade and a half ?

There is definitely something very suspect

Just about every game since Christmas a game changing decision has gone against us

But one thing I’ve noticed that is 100% happening… key decisions go against us then we need VAR to correct it. With certain red teams they always get the on field decision

Then with VAR the mysterious and completely open to interpretation ‘not clear and obvious’ comes into play

I am absolutely certain we are reffed differently

It’s been like this for so long. Pep knows it, the players know it. Luckily in past seasons we have been so good that these decisions were irrelevant in 3,4,5-0 wins.

We took on UEFA and the Premier League. We ain’t getting any favours, they look to screw us over at every opportunity.

Oh and the fact that most of the fuckers are completely inept.

It’s to do with the “charges”, that deffo has something to do with it, as many have claimed we will be proven innocent but they trying to fuck us on the pitch now, they couldn’t do it before as we were too good, unfortunately we aren’t now, so can’t get away with it on the pitch, although if we go for jugular and get 3 or 4 in the first half we win today easily, but we are too busy passing back and sideways in our penalty area Bernardo Silva the instigator of it as well, fucking criminal

It certainly seems against us. Today’s decisions were terrible and you get the feeling the refs are looking for any opportunity to give a foul against us and turn a blind eye to penalty claims.

Fair point. I think it’s a mixture of, as I say, it being easy to brush over because we’ve been winning regardless as well as just wanting to believe such a thing wouldn’t be happening.

As we have got ever closer to the #115 outcome being confirmed, it seems to me that the way we are refereed differently to everyone else has become progressively worse, and quite blatant.

I'm convinced that the 2 are related.
