Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It was the worst Spurs team I have ever seen. Their fans could not believe the second half. Neither could I.
I had to actually agree with tosspot Neville when he said about the atmosphere first half and how flat it was. That 2nd half was different and sadly it was due to our inadequacies. It was poor and becoming too regular now.

Wouldn't like to think of the sort of comments we'd have on here if we were in the bottom half of the table and out of all cups.
Six points behind with over forty still to play for, and the arse still having to come to us, anything can happen. Certainly not the time to be throwing the towel in.
Another big game on Wednesday, although you wouldn't think so reading some of the posts on here.
Just one step from another Wembley trip, which is impressive the number of times we've been there in recent years. Prices could be cheaper but they're still not extortionate for a cup semi final.
Four of us will be there, would like to think they'll be many more Blues there and fill the place.
We might have a 2-0 lead but we're not there yet. Let's help them over the line, it's a semi final after all.
A point at spurs ain't that bad.
Although it's hard to polish a turd, credit for trying.

This current set up isn't the City of past seasons so whilst it's not impossible to finish with trophies, on today's showing it's highly unlikely.

It was 100% a foul but we have had some luck with other decisions over the years. Also, it's football, bad decision goals and flukes are all part of the game. The fact is we should have put this game to bed long before their first goal.
2 up is more than enough to put games to bed. We shouldn’t need 3/4/5 goals to win a game confidently.

The team is fragile. So many bad performances.

Change is inevitable.

I wish pep could continue forever and city win playing brilliant football. However, it’s not realistic in sport. The team is as poor now as before pep got here.

I think what you heard was the nobhead on comms saying we've failed to score away in the premier league in 2026.
What the sad sap Peter Dreary failed to mention was that 2026 is only 4 weeks old and that we've only played 2 away games.
Not like sky sports to try and highlight us in a negative way is it.
That's a good point but we haven't scored in the second half of the three home Premier league games as well.

At 2-0 they were there for the taking, screaming at the TV to go and get 3 and 4 and finish the game.

Same old story though boring pedestrian side to side crab like football.

What’s wrong with him?

Yes, because I knew we weren’t great, we were grinding out results. I never for one minute thought we’d win the title or the chumps this season, we will be lucky to pick up a Carabao.

The football we play, IN THE MAIN, is fucking dull, side to side shite.

Search back through my posts if you are so inclined, you won’t see any from me getting carried away even when we were winning a few.
No need to search through your posts, you’re honesty does me. I ask as an old mate of mine who travelled home and away for years, just gave it up overnight, stating that he was getting bored of it. This was a couple of seasons after our second PL, and double under Pellers.

There were many conversations but what I couldn’t understand, as we were still doing well compared to where we had been historically in our lifetimes, was where the issue was. In the end it came down to him personally, not wanting to go through the ups and downs again, he was drained and not used to following a team that were in with a shout.

Interestingly, he was back in love with City in Pep’s second season but last year had fallen away again.

Just wondering if it’s the same thing and, if not, is it the manager that needs to be changed, the squad that isn’t good enough for any manager, or can another manager get better results with this squad?

I see this kind of comment a lot recently and in my mind you'd think the players would do the opposite and give everything for him if they knew he was going.
I'd worry about a players mentality if a decision like that meant they downed tools.
It makes no sense.
History shows this happens repeatedly, when word gets out someone's leaving, players start thinking about themselves. 'Will the new manager rate me? Am I even in his plans? What's the point busting a gut to impress someone who won't be here next season?'

Look back at what happened when Taggart first said he was leaving. They did exactly the same and he ended up staying to try and fix it and there was less notice when he finally left.

Or just over 10 years ago, to the point where Pellegrini forced the hand by announcing it himself, but that was a team that couldn't be bothered either.

If you know he's going in summer, are you going to take his side if he has a go at your mate who will be here next season, or listen when he has a go at you? It's human nature and, if he is going, he's effectively not in charge, just coaching them for the rest of the season. You'd hope professional pride would be enough but you've only got to look over the road to see the difference in performance of players from when they didn't want to play for a manager.

The fans need to know right now and before the Newcastle and Liverpool games
That way we can get all get together and try and give the team and Pep the support in trying to win something

Right now i say we could even lose to Newcastle if we turn up like today
Something definitely isn’t right.
I’m starting to think in terms of performances across games I think we might actually be worse than last season.

Self respect? Earning your wage? The fans?
I agree it happens, my question is why. They are fucking professional footballers. Act like it.

2 pts dropped because the 2nd half was bad, horrendous in fact.

It’s literally been in the rules forever, I’m not sure how people don’t know that.

It should have been a retaken corner.
What that you are allowed to foul someone as much as want before a ball is kicked and totally take them out of game so they are out of position by the time the ball is kicked?
Have a day off.

It’s not looking good on that front at the moment. Pep bollocking cherki the other week. Which For me was a brilliant assist. And then today everything seemed ok until he bollocked cherki again. I’ve got a feeling that carried on in the half time team talk and set the tone for the second half
