Will we win the league this season? No

arsenal will be very happy to still be 6 points ahead.
If we hadn't had such poor results since the new year we'd be right on their shirt tails.
I'm sure they are thinking our inconsistency, especially away from home, is going to do for us.
A superb result today needs to be built on now.
Good news is that injured players are coming back.
Arsenal will also be very unhappy knowing that they had several chances to bury our title hopes the last few weeks and have failed to do so.

Arsenal supporters are already beginning to show signs of stressing out and this nervousness will filter down to the manager and players

They have only took 2 points more than us since new years day! They had the chance to go 13 points clear in their 5 games because of our form!

Not one a single person associated with Arsenal will want to talk about their form! Arteta is in for a rough few months, if we want it like we did today!

Really don’t think there’s that much difference in terms of the remaining fixtures. Still think they’ll win it, because of the lead they have and the fact they’re more consistent than us, but don’t think we have a tougher run in as such.
Zero trophies in 5 years Ric. Amazed you think they will be able to handle the pressure they are about to come under.

if you want to win the league you have to go and make a statement at some point of the season. There is no bigger statement in the competition than going away and winning at Anfield.

We have taken 6/6 points from the champions

Arsenal have taken 1/6 points from them

Today was massive. We now have the chance to go 3 points behind Arsenal before they travel away to an in form brentford.

Majority of our tough away fixtures are now behind us as well. Only Chelsea left I think. We have a serious opportunity to do this now.
Thank you for talking some sense pal!

Arsenal Have dropped 7 points in their last 5 league games. They are shitting themselves!

I think it’s crazy how people are just ignoring that Arsenal have literally won nothing in recent years and shown no sign that they have the nerve to handle a proper title race.

Yes I acknowledge that our own form hasn’t been great but we have proved already this season we can go on a run. Plus we have players and most importantly a manager who does know how to handle a close title run in.

Now we have the kinder set of fixtures to see out the season with Arsenal still to come to the Etihad. We’re in a fantastic position

Could be a turning point for us. We should be bouncing after that win. Hopefully, Erling will feel better about himself and start doing what he’s always done, we are also recovering some key players and Rodri is getting fitter. I still think the League is a big ask (although they have form for bottling) but I feel a possibly unwarranted optimism for the champions league this year and we have two domestic cups to go at.

Had we lost today, I think we would be discussing the rebuild and how it takes time, and some of our more hyperbolic posters would be planning for Pep’s departure and slagging off that ‘donkey that wears number 9 (check the matchday thread!). Thankfully, none of that came to pass and we won’t also have to suffer the indignity of deluded rags next week. Really think today was massively timely for the mood of the club and fans.
That post sounds like a Gundogan team talk! Direct, to the point, clear instruction on how to win the Treble with no cameras!

Compare that Gerrards motivational words about not slipping!

I think people need to perhaps recognise that as one of the worst collapses of all time rather than hold it up as the standard for what’s possible. 6 points with the head to head game is very achievable, 9 would have been holding out for a miracle time, which is what we got in 2012.
Worse than Newcastle’s 12 point lead under KK? If it was Villa chasing them down they probably wouldn’t worry but a serial winning Manager is on their tails, you can’t smell it, you can’t hear it, you can’t see it but it’s called “pressure”.

Agreed but Arsenal are head & shoulders above anyone else atm.
Saying that Arsenal are the biggest bottlers so there's some hope
Arsenal are not head and shoulders above anyone!

They have dropped 7 points in their last five league games while convincing themselves that they will win the league! and tell everyone how good they are!

City have the same 7 points in five games and are fuming coz we have been shit!

They are 6 points in front of us with a long way to go! they are not Head and Shoulders above us!

Gap 6 points.

United (A)
Wolves (H)
Spurs (A)
Liverpool (A)

Gap still 6 points. Can't look at that any other way than a monumental win.

Forest (A)
United (H)
Leeds (A)
Sunderland (H)...

And they couldn't gain ground, that's a win for us. We got 9 points from their run of games and we're yet to play the 4th fixture.
Wholeheartedly agree

And if you’d told us before our 3 tricky away games that we’d get 4 points from them then undoubtedly the best game to win would’ve been the dippers one just for the psychological boost it will give us.

I’m usually very much of the opinion that every win carries just the same importance ie 3 points, but the manner of today’s win and the hoodoo that it breaks could prove to be a seminal moment in the development of this City team

Think I must be taking crazy pills seeing some of the comments just above me.

There is zero universe where I would swap their fixtures for ours. Away at Brentford, just outside the champions league spots and have a better home record this year than Liverpool, then North London Derby away, Chelsea at home where they only just squeaked by them in the cup. Follow that up with Brighton away which is a hard place to go at the best of times. Then not long after they have to come to ours followed immediately by Newcastle going to theirs. Away at a West Ham team fighting for their lives and a final day in what could be Glasners last game at Selhurst.

Fucking hell talk about a gauntlet. How does anybody look at that and think they’ll piss it?

We have some hard games left don’t get me wrong. Stamford Bridge, Villa on the final day. But other than that I see a set of very winnable matches that have the potential to be quite uneventful if we go into them with the right mindset.
Top post mate! I am not one bit nervous about Arsenal! They don't have a say in if we win this or not!

If we want it, we will win it simple as that, its up to City who now wins the this league after that win at Anfield!

With pep constantly playing Erling Haaland on current form we are never going to get close to Arsenal. I’m sick of seeing Haaland strolling around the pitch offering nothing. Why wasn’t he subbed in place of Marmoush??
What did Marmoush offer in the Liverpool game? Am I missing something?

Fuck off mate!

We didnt need any miracle to win that league league in 2012, and we proved it by beating United 1-6 at Old Trafford. Was you there? I certainly was!

Ask any City fan who watched David Silva that season if it was a miracle that we won the league? They will all tell you that we won it by talent and grit, no miracle was ever needed!

I don’t know if it’s good to get excited or not tbh.

City haven’t been at the races for multiple reasons this season.

A big win at Anfield tho can’t be discounted as a monumental moment.

in an ideal world.

6 points ahead is 3 when we beat them at home.

So if we are getting excited this is the time to do it.

3 points with 12 games to go is nothing. Can Arsenal have a wobble? Yes. Can city go and win all those games? Yes I think so.

This is it now. Go and storm the league or continue to drop points.

I don’t know, dare to dream. This is city tho and anything is possible.

Ask me again after Fulham -:)

Would love another title scrap. Missed the nervy drama to games.

We were great that season, doesn’t change the fact that United’s collapse and blowing an 8 point lead is one of the worst in PL history and very unlikely to happen in any given season.

If it gets to 9 points we need Arsenal to collapse. It’s not going to happen 9 times out of 10.

No, which is why I said “one of the worst” I’d say the worst title collapses ever would be Kegans Newcastle (12pts), United 2012 (8), United in 1998 (11) and Arsenal in 2008 when they were 5 points clear and then won 1 of the last 7 games and didn’t even finish 2nd.

If Arsenal had gone 9 points clear and then didn’t win, it would points wise be the 3rd biggest collapse behind Keegan (12) and United 97/98 (11). So that’s “needing a miracle” territory for me.

Anyway, they didn’t, and with a bit of luck on Thursday it could be down to 3/5.

If all goes well from here on in then be prepared for some drama against Villa.

Imagine we go into that game needing a win and Villa rest all their best players because they have a Europa league final the week after.

Arsenal fans wouldn’t stop crying about it for decades. They’d launch petitions for it to be debated in parliament and try to get the PL to launch an investigation.
