Will we win the league this season? No

And we had the chance to have gone ahead of them over that period.

We had the chance, but also we lost Gvardiol, Dias and Gonzalez due to injuries, Doku as well. Haaland and Foden lost form due to being overplayed in December (because we didn't have Marmoush, Semenyo and Doku).

Just noticed that arsenal's next 3 league games are all away.
Brentford
Wolves
Spurs

You'd expect them to win comfortably at wolves although they needed a last minute winner to beat them at home.
Brentford are doing well at the moment and will be well up for it to try and sneak a European spot.
Spurs is local derby and we all know anything can happen in them and You'd think the Spurs fans will be well up for that knowing they could potentially cost arsenal the title.

We're in it, we hopefully will be even more in it on Thursday night after they go to Brentford.

Spursy might have a new manager bounce as well when they go there & we know how a new manager with a poor side in a derby can find a result if they have a blind set of officials.

The next few games are crucial. The League Cup final will also impact on momentum. A huge run-in with the CL as well. We have a puncher’s chance for the PL.

I'd love to think we can, but in all honesty, I just don't think we are consistent enough. Our form over the past few months has been terrible by our standards. Last night was great, but until Bernardo's goal we were sleepwalking into another inept second half performance. If we can use last night's second half goals as a catalyst to help make our second halfs better, then maybe. But statistically, trends are usually the best indication of predicting what will happen, and our trend doesn't look great, certainly not title winning levels.

Saying that, the gooners should have killed us off by now, with our form they should have taken advantage, but they haven't really, and football is a funny old game, so never say never I guess.

The best we can do is keep the pressure on them by winning a game at a time, Fulham is crucial IMO. I don't think this Arsenal side yet have the mentality of champions, so the longer and closer we can push them, the more likely they are to start flapping.

Just think at the moment there’s a lull in genuinely great players across the world

That's partly due to teams leaving a lot less space for the oppo players to exploit. The intensity and tactical competence are higher than ever. Current Haaland would look like a god against teams from 10-15 years ago including Pep's Barca. Football has changed a lot.

Anything can happen in football, injuries are a huge thing.
Imagine if Rice got injured. He holds that team together. Yes they have other great players but he's their Rodri.
And we've missed a fully fit Rodri big time.
Yes, we can win it.

Consistency has been an issue from the seasons beginning, no doubt. We're reliant on Arse dropping points and I'm sure they will. We have to get ourselves into that position of taking advantage when they do. Hopefully yesterday has set the foundation for a good run of results for us.

Still feels like that run of games at new year where we drew 3 on the trot and should of won all 3 will cost us. Add to that the 2 points we threw away last week against spurs and for me we have left ourselves too much to do. To have a chance i think we have to win our next 5 league games prior to the LC final and then who knows.

Past few months? Didn't we win 8 games in a row in December, including at Bernabeu?

The lack of consistency was down mostly to injuries and fatigue (due to overplaying several players, including Gvardiol, Haaland and Foden). Now we have back Rodri, Gonzalez, Dias, Doku (hopefully soon), Marmoush plus Guehi and Semenyo. Next month we may have Kova and Stones in the squad. Much more options than in the last months.

Brentford MIGHT hold them to a draw. Anyone thinking Wolves and Spurs won't be dicked by them is fooling themselves.

If we want to stand any chance we must ensure we are just two points behind them at the most before we play them in April.

I seen a post last night saying that the last time we done a league double of Liverpool was the 1936-1937 season............ we also won the league that year as well!
.... and got relegated as champions the year after - oh the good old 'typical city' days!

Ok..... Let me rephrase

"I'd love to think we can, but in all honesty, I just don't think we are consistent enough. Our form over the whole season so far hasn't been up to our previous title winning standards"

As great as winning away at Anfield was, I don't think our overall performance level was too dissimilar to previous weeks. The major difference being the 'rub of the green'. The Chelsea favourable ball bounce leading to the late equaliser, the Dalot non red card, Solanke foul and goal that he'll never score again in 10 lifetimes all were examples when our luck was out.

Arsenal are playing at a more consistent level with a far more methodical and controlled approach. Dirge to watch but effective at the minute. I'm hoping beating the scourers lifts the mood and confidence levels in the squad and fan base.

If we can use this to go on a run and apply pressure then who knows how close we can get. A full stadium at home and lots of noise will be a start.

Totally agree, this City side need the fans more than ever..young, new signings, need confidence - we moan about the players at times (quite rightly) now we have to look at ourselves don't we, we have a role to play

Why are they playing Wolves on the 18th they get to put points on the board when nobody else is playing? Is that the league cup final rearranged game?

How was our form in 22/23 up to our loss at Spurs in February? It wasn't great.

Our team is a work in progress. If we avoid injuries to key players, we are likely to be more consistent. Only time can tell whether that will be enough.

Maye, you don't need to disagree with everything I say lol. You must get my general point. If we don't win the league, we can all admit that we probably haven't been good enough consistently. If we do win it, then we've had some good fortune, because it would mean that arsenal drop points we don't expect them to. Sometimes you don't play great (22/23) and still win it, I get that. You just have a better chance by playing great consistently.
