Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

It certainly is if you read the majority of comments on the socials after yesterday.

Can almost taste the salt through my screen.

We could have seen them not award the penalty for nunes yesterday and got away with it. Maybe it is evening itself out now. We will see.
If it was truly bent, that pen doesn’t get awarded, especially at the end of the game, this thread goes haywire and Arsenal are that bit further ahead.

Yesterday was a clear example of you get some and you don’t get some. The comments on line are saying we are being assisted the chance to win the title and that we are 116 FC and all that bollocks.

It's just PGMOL over-complicating things for themselves by introducing VAR when they don't know how to use it properly. Football is full of grey areas that VAR can't interpret, no matter how long the officials look at it, so all we're getting is more confusion - and more incidents where very, very picky decisions are made, seemingly at random, and then seemingly obvious decisions are being ignored.

I think PGMOL just need to can VAR for 99.9% of all decisions. Keep it for black & white stuff but don't bother on the grey stuff, just give control back to the refs on the pitch and let them actually make decisions. I hated it when it came in, things sort of got better just after the pandemic, but it's gone back to being total shit and I hate it more.

Change the offside rule so that it's judged by feet rather than "sleeves" or whatever, keep using the semi-auto technology for offsides, and the keep goal line buzzer. Bin the rest off. It's getting us absolutely nowhere, causing more muscle injuries, sending fans loopy, sending players and managers round the twist, and ruining the game.
Just this. Again.

Nah. The Sky Sports studio have no comms with the PiGMOL, right?

We've known (and been told) that the match commentators can overhear the referee comms ever since VAR came in 6 years ago. They reference it in every single game when you hear them say a VAR check is over, or that they're checking something when there's no other indication.

Here's a debate from 5 years ago -

BBC's Monday Night Club presenter Mark Chapman asked why, if TV commentators can hear the conversations between the referee and VAR team, that audio is not made available to the public. Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards responded by stating he disagreed with having decisions explained in real time.

You lost me when I saw Chris Sutton's name.

The most telling thing is his last line "Hes not talking to us I wish you could hear him"

There you go.
We've been told.
Well not told.
Over heard it
Bent as fuck.
We knew that ages ago from all of the commentators basically relaying in real time what the VAR is saying. That's why it becomes obvious when they've changed their minds halfway through. It's so clear when the commentators initially give their own opinion about an incident and within 20 seconds, they're following the completely opposite company line.

They must have been pulling their hair out in 22/23, when we were just too good to be reined in by their deliberate interventions.
To my mind the corruption that masquerades in plain sight as ' incompetence' has ramped up 100% x2 since those times. I thought 2021 V Brighton away after league won, many strange decisions was bad, but that was the warm up what was to come with the Rashford goal at OT, the scum pk v Jack in the Cup final, the Henderson Red in the cup final. There is a very long list which imo are deliberate actions against City by the officials.

I'll never believe it is anything other than corrupt.

I posted on the matchday thread immediately yesterday when I heard either him or Drury say something like ' we are PRIVVY' to these conversations'. Meaning ref and Stockley Park. Therefore I think it's got to be two way hence why many of Nevilles suggestions suddenly become reasons for some decisions.

I thought that was only selective comm's, and only when var are deliberating an incident?

Our strong reactions after recent games and especially Spurs (they knew that 1st goal for Spurs was a bad mistake) helped us win the penalty and the game yesterday (not that we didn't deserve it).

Plus, the league would be more boring without a proper title race. Money talk.

It doesn't bother me if the comms can hear the refs feed or VAR talking about decisions.
If VAR could hear what the commentators were saying that would be a whole different conversation but I'm sure that's not the case.

On a side note, some dickhead somewhere probably did a Powerpoint presentation that was titled something like 'The Marketability of Injury Time Events in the Premier League Era' and effectively had every single game turned it into a 100 minute game. I bet he woke up this morning thinking 'fuck player welfare' and feeling entirely vindicated by the events of yesterday.
Probably thinks he's good at his job and all. The fucking dickead fuck.

Fair play to Rodri for calling out the shit refereeing last week. I'm fully confidant that we'd never have been awarded that penalty had VAR not felt they were under public scrutiny.
Also, in my humble etc, the fact that the Premier League never charged him - and appear to be happy to let his remarks fade away, speaks volumes.

He hears that there is 15 seconds left in the one way feed from the officials that broadcasters get.
If it is true that the commentators have a listening comms line to VAR, who are they hearing the 15 second line off?
Is the ref speaking to VAR and telling them (and Sky listening in to that conversation), or are VAR directly telling Sky?
Because Sky don't have a direct link to the Ref.

I wouldn't actually say it's bent, but would say it's 'tweaked'.

Naive maybe, but I think the individual refs are actually okay. They do their best and try to be fair.

If it was bent against us, Pawson (who wasn't great) wouldn't have given us an injury time penalty. Could easily have hid behind the ball going out, but didn't.

But I do believe that in line with the PL 'strategy' to have different winners, they give the refs directives to help achieve that.

So, ref fairly, but "let's not have unnecessary red cards early in games". If you think City are going to run away with it, "let teams battle and be physical without punishment". Plus, if you want Arsenal to get over the line, then let them do whatever they want at lineouts, sorry setpieces.

I don't think the PL are necessarily against City. They dont mind if we win it, as long as it's a great title race. It's all about the viewers and the money! But it's been us and Liverpool too long, so Arsenal's strengths, which could easily have been clamped down on, are let go.
