I’d have preferred Cherki to Phil but in all reality, an in form Haaland and Foden wins us the league. They’ve probably both had a think after being left out recently and will be busting a gut tonight. You can just keep world lass players out permanently, and with respect to a decent Fulham side, it’s probably a good game to get them back playing together. I just hope it’s phill out wide and not Bernie. I think Phil’s better getting his mojo back on the flank rather than the more crucial cm position

Bizarrely his move to his preferred position and form at cm might cost him his England place. Hope he gets enough games at LB in the run in to make the squad. I’m sure Ait-N won’t play every week so should be ok
 
We had a difficult game 3 days ago, makes sense to give some a rest, makes sense to rest Khusanov, makes sense for Ruben and Phil to play.

To me anyway, but I've only watched football for 57 years, not like some of the "better than Pep" merchants that post on here, none of who know the players individual fitness situations.

Foden is being given a vote of confidence, he's been deservedly dropped but tonight gets a chance to show the old Phil is still in there.

With sensible level headed views like that you're best staying away from the match day thread - mindless knee jerk reactions only on there.
 
I'm not sure why Pep looks at the last few games and thinks Phil offers more than Cherki. I get that Phil has some credit banked but it is clear to me we operate as a better team with Rayan in it.

That being said I really hope Phil has a wow of a game - if he's as anonymous as he's been since Jan 1st some questions will arise.
 
Marmoush shouldn't be dropped for Foden, Cherki and Reijnders deserve to start ahead of Phil, now that I've said let's hope Phil shuts me up.

Looks like the gaffer is giving Phil a chance as he recognises what an asset he could be in the run in which involves 4 competitions at present
