Will we win the league this season? No

My confidence in City's squad is growing. Look at the subs bench vs Fulham and Liverpool.

City are a young and developing side, and have grown stronger as the season progresses. A number of good things have happened at the same time:
  • Semenyo, and Guehi were top class Jan. signings,
  • NOR, Khusanov, Ait-Nouri, Doku are improving. I also feel that we can rest Haaland and play Marmoush without a major drop-off.
  • Rodri is back. Can he fully recover?
If we have a fully-fit side when we play the big games, then we have a very good chance of winning trophies.

Earlier in the season, City did not have the strength in depth to handle the fixture load and we lost points because we couldn't play to our potential with 2 games per week. Now I feel we can do so, if we can maintain a healthy squad. We have the best first XI in the league and strong squad depth. The title race, and the latter stages of the Cups are now here, and we are ready.

Writing off teams again l see. You never learn do you.

There are no easy games in the prem especially when it comes to the pointy end of the season.
No I'm simply pointing out that whereas some Blues are saying Sp*rs away is the tough match for Arsenal, it's actually tonight's game at Brentford that's the toughest on paper. 4 of Arsenal's next 5 PL games are away from home. If they get through that 6 points ahead still then 5 of the final 8 PL games are at home and that would put Arsenal very much in the driving seat.

IMHO it comes down to the Etihad game - avoid defeat there and it's probably done as City are unlikely to make up 6 points in the other 11 games on Arsenal.

I think to be 6 points to the Arse when we’re having a 2 steps forward 1 step back kind of season says more about where Arse are than us. If they are genuinely as good as being portrayed this title should have been virtually wrapped up by now for them. The fact it isn’t should be worrying for them.

They will need to lose way more than 1 as we're 1000000 % dropping more points.
We are starting to perform. Haaland is re-gathering strength. Pep can give him the right amount of rest and game time to achieve this. Dias, Stones, Guehi, Khusanov, Nunes, NOR gives us exceptional defensive strength. We have goals and assists right across our forward line.

The main doubt I have is whether Rodri will be strong enough by the time that we face the big matches.

Arsenal will most likely win tonight, but our job now is to stay on their shoulder, and be ready to take advantage if they slip.

Much will hinge on the League Cup Final. Win that and we'll take great heart going into the Champions League games (assuming we've qualified) and the fixtures away to Chelsea and home to Arsenal. Those weeks in April could be pivotal, and it's ironic that the least important trophy could psychologically prove the most important for both finalists.

We have been inconsistent but our defence now looks stronger. Guehi is a quality defender, Khusanov is a growing force. We have arrived in February at the beginning of the title race, and we are ready for this.

We keep saying we are in transition. I think that period is over.

Here’s the thing. It’s one thing to go to Brentford and win when we’re 3 points behind and I agree they will probably win tonight. It’s another thing entirely to go out and win week after week after week when the pressure is relentless and one slip will cost you the title.

If they can do that, like we did in 18/19 with the scousers breathing down our necks for four months, they will be worthy champions.

If not, we will be.

If we press like we did in that 1st half for the remainder of the season, we have a good chance.

That 1st half performance really stood out for me. Not so much attacking wise, but from an out of possession and pressing perspective. The pressing looked far more orchestrated, intense and coherent than it has been.

Passing and ability to retain possession dissapointed me in the 2nd half. We should've been better at picking them off and making more chances via transition

The last few weeks of a season can feel very different to the rest. Games might look easy on paper but all kinds of crazy things can happen in the final weeks of the season. Squeaky bum time.

to catch arsenal we need to win 2 games and for them to lose 2 games

so their goal difference would drop by at least 2 and ours would rise by at least 2

so only being 2 goals worse off than them isn't an issue

obviously us needing them to lose 2 is an issue mind
No we don't,

Points are made up easily if your rival draws games, as long as you win.

The last time you were challenging for the title (23/24) it was a home game that stopped you from winning it (Villa). This time it may be Chelsea or some unexpected team, who knows? You were favourites against Liverpool at home but were poor in the 2nd half.

Spurs are unpredictable at times. Wouldn't write them off.

You also have to factor in other competitions, particularly the CL.

Games get a lot harder when your facing a team, away from home, who've had a full weeks rest and you've only had 2 days to prepare after a tough away game in Europe

Given that top 5 will make the CL, Opta have the following predicted points…

4. Liverpool 62.79
5. Chelsea 62.67
6. United 62.48

One of those missing out.

Just noticed, Arse have done that sneaky trick in bringing a league game forward because of postponenent later in the season.

They now play Wolves away next Wednesday (a CL night no less).

The game they should play be on League Cup weekend.

We obviously can't do the same because our opponents that weeked (Palace) are in Euro action next week so can't play us.

Not right this imo, 2 Clubs going for a title, a quad actually. One can bring a game forward to get it out of the way, the other can't!

Bringing league games forward from the original Matchday weekend is just wrong!
