What you need to factor in is actually winning 'the' game that gets you over the line - it's an absolute nightmare.Mate come on! Last night was disappointing but Brentford are a decent side. They won at Villa with 10 men for a half!
We are top by 4 points. Doesn't mean we are guaranteed to win it but that's a great position. Do you think City will win every game from now? They have to beat us which won't be easy. Both sides will drop more points but they realistically need to beat us at the Etihad.
If they turn it round and win the league then fair fucks to them but they have a big job on their hand to do that and realistically they will need to win at least 10 of their last 12 to get the league and one of those wins has to be against us. Not easy.
As a 'realistic worst case' we might draw against Spurs away, Chelsea home and Palace away and lose at the Etihad. That would put us on 84 points. I think we will actually end up more likely on 86 or 88 points.
But say we got 84 points that means City would need to get 32 points from the 36 available, meaning they can afford 2 draws or a loss and a draw, and they HAVE to beat us.
Pep's only job from now until the end of the season is to keep the points tally close.
Winning your games and accruing the points is one thing; winning that game that gets you the title is a real head fuck.
That's the challenge.
