Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Mate come on! Last night was disappointing but Brentford are a decent side. They won at Villa with 10 men for a half!

We are top by 4 points. Doesn't mean we are guaranteed to win it but that's a great position. Do you think City will win every game from now? They have to beat us which won't be easy. Both sides will drop more points but they realistically need to beat us at the Etihad.

If they turn it round and win the league then fair fucks to them but they have a big job on their hand to do that and realistically they will need to win at least 10 of their last 12 to get the league and one of those wins has to be against us. Not easy.

As a 'realistic worst case' we might draw against Spurs away, Chelsea home and Palace away and lose at the Etihad. That would put us on 84 points. I think we will actually end up more likely on 86 or 88 points.

But say we got 84 points that means City would need to get 32 points from the 36 available, meaning they can afford 2 draws or a loss and a draw, and they HAVE to beat us.
What you need to factor in is actually winning 'the' game that gets you over the line - it's an absolute nightmare.

Pep's only job from now until the end of the season is to keep the points tally close.

Winning your games and accruing the points is one thing; winning that game that gets you the title is a real head fuck.

That's the challenge.

Well that's the problem with written words vs speaking as people can interpret messages differently. In my post I made it clear that I could see us losing at the Etihad so I absolutely wasn't painting that as a supremely difficult match for City - just one that they have to win.
I think we have to win them all and hope for a big favour your fixtures are easy bar our gane

If you think that being fair minded is standing up for a tarquin who comes onto a city forum and loudly claims that Declan Rice walks into any City starting 11 of the last 10 or so years then I’m going to have to reassess how I interpret the phrase.
Declan Rice is a utility player with a good work ethic and a very good delivery.

That's it.

The reason he gets so much praise and receives so many accolades is because he's English and the British media are desperate as fuck for England to win something.

Slightly off topic, but I’m not sure if it was last night or an earlier game, but in their desperation to belittle what Erling is doing, they let it be known that Thiago has a better conversion percentage than the Viking.

Just how pathetic can the be?

And how low can they go?
How are Thiago's stats for getting hauled down by maybe one but mostly two defenders and getting nowt from the refs? Do they stack up too?

Possibly because of the rag, dipper supporting types who come on here pretending to be City supporters or purely to wind up the forum.

They usually don't last long obviously before they are exposed and fucked off, and he isn't the worst.
Hasn’t he been on here for quite a while
You can tell the rag agents a mile off
I don’t get this from bridgeno

We’re the greatest forum in the land and all the world and this is a forum for City fans.

Individuals on here don’t HAVE to embrace inclusivity and we certainly don’t have to be a great forum for supporters of rival teams. There are (just a few!) people on here, as in life, who could be considered rude and disrespectful and others who are incredibly polite and tolerant. Some poster’s aren’t just rude to Arsenal interlopers either!

I’m not sure many of us would fare particularly well on well on the dippers, rags, tarquin’s forum or any other fan forum for that matter!
Well all of that maybe true but I’d like to think we could be just a little bit different
But fair enough we don’t all have to think the same, not having a dig at you but dippers and rag and arse forums are basically echo chambers recycling the same old shite page after page.

Jesus is a good sub. for them. They've still not fixed their centre forward problem.
He is but it was obvious to anyone who watched City week in week out that he was never the answer to their centre forward problem and getting £50 million was great business.

I know every top team has bedwetters including ours but browsing arse mania last night 95 percent of the fanbase thinks we are gonna win it and at least 70 percent want Lego out, that is fucking ridiculous.
We have done some serious mental damage to your fanbase for them to be 4 points clear with a reasonable amount of winnable games and still have no confidence to see the season out.
Reverse our situations and I’d guess there won’t be many in here thinking like that.
I don’t include you btw.
It's City PTSD. If it was Liverpool chasing us we'd chill but City have form for A going on long winning runs at the business end of the season and B doing it against Arsenal.

I just think this season squad depth will help Arsenal get through games that in other seasons we'd lose or draw. And at the same time this City side isn't the side of a few years ago so you might drop points at places like Chelsea, Bournemouth etc. But we will see.

I haven't said anything remotely disrespectful about City. I've said they have a tough ask to win the league from here but that it is possible. You talk about 'mask dropping' and others say that too but all I've done is point out the facts about current league position, matches still to come and been realistic about it, whilst still not ruling City out.

Or am I supposed to just say City will piss the league from here just for the sake of it even though we both know that at the current moment City will be huge underdogs.

Me being disrespectful would have been to say something like City are a bad team etc but that is not what I have said.
You being disrespectful is mentioning Plodder in the same sentence as Yaya.

Squad depth doesn’t suddenly help develop mentality or the ability to handle pressure though. The final stage of the season is a completely different ball game. You are talking about factors that will help a team in the first 28-30 games in a season.

That final 10 or so games comes down to who can hold their nerve. For example I haven’t been that impressed with Bernardo for most of the season. However I think he should be heavily involved in all of our remaining matches because he has the experience and knows what it takes to get over the line in a title race. And you saw that in his performance at Anfield.

You don’t have any players like this because you haven’t won anything. Yeah you have guys like Rice who might come out and say the right things but the reality is he has no idea what it takes while we have multiple players that do.

hmmm but we're better than that....aren't we? Well we aren't really ..for me its a shame, its much better to have a proper football debate. I buried my dad last Friday 85 yrs a proper blue. He always made time to have decent football chats with opposing fans, especially without the toxic internet we used to get some good insight and have healthy debates about their team, their town, their local politics whatever,,, he also used to tell us to watch key players from the opposition too, to learn the game properly. Its way too partisan now, and we are worse off for it. Lets be the site that encourages grown up chat and not throw ridiculous petty insults... despite what other club fans may do..lets be better than that

I agree.

No problem with bridge or anything he says. Anyone can disagree without being a dick, but a handful of posters cannot resist and take everything as a personal attack.

The crux of it is that- Arsenal fan thinks Arsenal things are better, City fans think City things are better - who’d have thought it?

But it is a great place for “I’m the biggest blue” competition.

I agree, different season different teams.. One thing i would say is that the meeja try and whip up a run in frenzy at Christmas FFS.. there's still nearly a whole third of the season left and we're in mid Feb.. i remember Liverpool won their first 7 and the mmeja fuckwits tried to get people to debate whether the league has already been won!! One thing that Pep gets right is a season long plan, he knows how to use domestic cups, the effect of the business end of chumps league, he rotates slightly which helps, uses cups as part of the training week etc,, it seems ... that helps him get the best out of the last 8 - 10 games - still 20 - 25% left!! I think Arsenal have a similar process to City now though re the 'season management' aspect - but with a stronger squad..at least i think it will be close and that will be better for the league. We will lose a couple though which with our young team is expected... IF we do manage to win at home v you,,.(BIG IF) it should be a close end.

The cracks are showing.....

How can we say the cracks are showing with a decent away point..two weeks ago we were 2 up at half time and ended up with a decent away point!!! No one can win every game..they are four points clear, we are pretty shaky side although we are improving and Kush...what a gem to have at the back with Guehi this stage of the season... this will help us, but we are still likely to lose a couple more realistically..but still could pip it
