Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well done...two words...high praise indeed.

It's the 100's of joyless words that followed your gushing praise that totally misread the room.

Just enjoy a fantastic 3 points, have a beer and chill.

Hugs.
lets all live in an echo chamber then shall we....everything was great, the quality of football was amazing.....blah blah, blah blah...or any other fucking banal shite that helps you cope and makes you feel a little bit better or you are just too sensitive to look at the whole picture.

One team had played away in Europe, One team had a week off
Look i am happy as a pig in shit about the win, But i did fear this from City being sluggish and our 2nd half performance all season and tonight is wrong

We needed the points more than the performance, but I also think a 90-minute performance would send the message that we have more to come and we are ready. Arsenal will see that 2nd half tonight and fancy a fight against us
Exactly this.

Bollocks. Attacked well in the first half, defended well in the second half, we are playing a different type of football than a few years ago, but if you can't enjoy big nights and big wins then what's the point.

But should we not be better fitness-wise in the 2nd half ? Newcastle had an away trip in Europe and City had a week off. Yes I understand this team is a new build and the new players will need to find what it takes to be in a title race
But the 2nd half drop off is a problem.

VERY big win and Arsenal vs Spurs tomorrow could be the key to the title race

We just don't look fit enough at times, and teams are worryingly putting us on the backfoot in the second half of games .... we got away with it tonight, against a Newcastle side who looked lively in the 2nd half (despite their midweek european outing), even if they didn't actually create much ....... but three points is three points, and that's all that really matters.

If you think this was a good performance considering the context I've said I'm not sure if you've watch us in the seasons when we were winning the titles.

I wish I was on a wind up, our players certainly looked like they were on one in the second half though!
It was a great win. When did Newcastle look like scoring in the 2nd half? Their one goal was a deflection.

We defended like heroes. It wasn't perfect but we were more than good value for the win against a good team. Should we have scored more? Yes. Did we do what was needed? Also yes. Is the title in our hands? YES!

Dias is a bit borderline liability now. His lack of pace is forcing him just to grab and wrestle players off the ball . Some form of card waiting to happen. On an individual basis Marmoush was poor. Everyone else put a real shift in
In 2 seasons max, Khusa is replacing him. Young, ambitious and ice cold. Great at tackling too.

Idk about you fellas but to me this win feels like a loss because of how we played, ESPECIALLY in the 2nd half. It frustrated me like nothing else this season. We had 1 week of rest and played at home (+should've been massively motivated because of Assna dropping points) while Newcastle had only 3 days and had to travel to f-ing Azerbaijan right before that and played away. Yet we were the ones who played like we haven't had a single day of rest! Midfield constantly overloaded, attack missing sitters left, right and centre while the fullbacks were leaking every time Newcastle was attacking. This was a horrendous display but I feel like barely anyone will talk about it because we somehow won in the end. Our physios definitely need sacking and Pep needs to play Cherki since minute 1, like how on earth are you keeping a player of his caliber on the bench despite him being the only one that brings any sort of creativity (and presence) in the midfield??
I think I can safely speak for absolutely everyone else when I say it is just you.

Great win, great game. Fair play to Newcastle for coming for a game and making it a very good game to watch.

Thought the ref was good too allowing the game to flow when he could and booking people at the right time.

I didn’t thick the second half was too bad. We were sloppy when we had chances to win the game, particularly Nouri and Semenyo. However it was a solid defensive effort today. And we kept them largely at bay with the odd heart in mouth moment at the end!

Haaland was excellent today.

Worth the horrendous slog through Manchester in the rain to get there for that!

Wum-tastic
Not sure why £30-40m is wumming? Are we going to sell him for more than that? No. Is he going to take us forward and have longevity? Hopefully. Will he be replaced in a couple of years? Quite probable.
