We may not be playing at our highest levels but there is no doubting the desire is still there. Had to fight for those 3 points and fight we did. Bernardo laying into people twice his size is the epitome of that.
I thought all our captain choices we have played with desire, energy, and led by example last night.
Who knows what this season will bring if we carry on in that mood.
What a January signing Guehi is turning out to be.
Good to hear pep saying Khusanov will ve here at City for a long long time.CTID

Haaland’s best all round performance for me.

He was everywhere!!! Clearing headers, chasing defenders, building up play. Fighting with burn and anyone else. A true captains performance with Bernie and Rodri.

The desire hunger and attitude is back. He reminded me of when we used to ask our best players in silva and Kev to run the most, fight the most and the rest will follow.

Arrived back home in Radcliffe after being stuck on the blue car park for over an hour.
Thought the performance tonight was the best over all for some time. As others have said in this and the MOTM thread there were some really good performances tonight. Guehi has really strengthened the defence. Khusanov was excellent in the second half and certainly no drop off from Ruben. NOR and Erling were top class with Donna doing what he does when required. The only slight gripe is that Semenyo wasn't at his best tonight. However everyone is allowed an off day now and then.
Let's hope the Spuds can do us a favour later on today.

Compare and contrast with the Match (suicide) day thread.

Numerous standout performers tonight with Guehi, Khusanov, O'Reilly, Haaland ect...

BUT...Bernardo Silva is leading by example, he's the go to man over the last number of months with his performances.

He's an absolute warrior and deservedly wearing that captains armband.
If this is Bernie's last season with us. To see him lift the PL trophy would be the best send off.

I also want a statue of his dipper guard of honour pose.

I'd love nothing more than watching Bernie lift that title, he deserves it and what a send off it would be for him.

Premier League Title in one hand and a Cuppa Tea in the other for his statue.

The match day thread is what it is as people are invested in the game and therefore more emotional in their reactions. The same applies with responses in the post match thread when the adrenaline is still having an effect. It is only later on when things have calmed down that reactions and comments become more objective.
I am not having a pop at anyone when they post and everyone is entitled to their opinion and I certainly get worked up during and after a game . All I am saying is that is human nature to react as people do in the match thread and we should accept that.

After 27 games under Pep.

17/18 - 72 points (1st)
18/19 - 65 points (2nd)
19/20 - 57 points (2nd)
20/21 - 65 points (1st)
21/22 - 66 points (1st)
22/23 - 61 points (2nd)
23/24 - 62 points (2nd)
24/25 - 47 points (5th)
25/26 - 56 points (2nd)

Points achieved in the final 11 games under Pep.

16/17 - 22 points
17/18 - 28 points
18/19 - 33 points
19/20 - 24 points
20/21 - 21 points
21/22 - 27 points
22/23 - 25 points
23/24 - 29 points
24/25 - 24 points

Average 25.8 points, so 26 points. Would see us finish on 82 points.

Second half drop off is just because our squad is made up of brand new (mostly v young) players and not fully fit veterans. Peps said he needs his old heads, Bernardo, Rodri, Dias, Haaland on the pitch as much as possible in those tough moments to stop us collapsing like Spurs. So he feels he has to keep them on for their leadership but Bernardo looked knackered early after a very end to end first half and Rodri still isn’t fully match fit and moving like he was pre injury.

So we end up with no real midfield, not able to hold onto the ball.

The only solution is for the new players to get more familiar with the system so they know how to react to the opposition changing things up and get through tough games like this so Pep trusts them more and he can use the bench for fresh legs.

I assume Nico G is not fully fit yet because he clearly earns Peps trust in the last year and it seemed an obvious sub to bring him on for either Rodri or Bernardo in the second half.

I don’t think the problem will fully resolve itself until next season. It had been getting better and better until today though.

I was screaming last 20mins in the stadium to slow the game down. Didn't need to counter every time we got the ball.

We have tightened up defensively though, we might have been under pressure but Newcastle and Fulham previously haven't created many chances in the 2nd halves against us.
