Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

Obviously only rumours, but the Muslim vote in Levenshulme and in Burnage, probably in Gorton as well is going to the Greens to stop Reform. The amount of leaflets I’ve had from the Greens focusing on stopping Reform and pretty much nothing else about their policies, bar the odd leaflet, has been unreal. This election has pretty much been about stopping Reform by the Greens and to an extent by Labour. It’s pretty much about tactical voting and not policies. Or policies have been an after thought.
I think it's really interesting round here at the minute (i'm round broom lane). There's a few different pakistani communities, and one of them seems to be completely obsessed with an election in pakistan going off the big stickers in the backs of people's cars, so they might not even give a shit. but those i chat to (different crowd) are going green. the lentil weavers round here are all super excited about green (station south will be unbearable if green win) and i think the general feeling amongst the rest is yes, tactical voting. and pretty much everyone, not just those i know in lev, are saying green.

Not only Russia, but America too. It’s quite clear to me that we were hit by all sides and a challenge to the EU was the goal.

True but America is also due to Russian influence, that’s what I meant about their interference being far bigger than people think.

I’ve said before but I would love even just every now and again, people put down their phones and social media and read some history books. The tools may have changed but history always repeats itself.

Unfortunately we’re still in the times of “had enough of experts” and I’m not sure how we’ll ever get out of it, AI will further see we don’t.

I had a green canvasser at the door the other day. All she could say was why not give us a try. No discussion on policies, no telling me what they're going to do, just Hannahs from Manchester why not just give us a try. I despair about the state of it all.

I’m not sure there’s that much wrong with it tbh, that’s just standard party politics.

They're desperate, so I understand it. Just don't go around shouting that other parties are not showing the whole picture, and then do that. They can't have it both ways.

All of them do it. I dislike it too and wish they wouldn’t but I just ignore the stuff like that.

Tactical voting to keep reform out isn't confined to the Denton and Gorton constituency.

Despite reform being ahead in the polls, more people are prepared to vote against them than for them, and fear of them galvanises a lot people to go and vote when they wouldn't normally bother.

At the end of all this one thing will be clear

whether labour win narrowly or labour lose to either green or reform afai. narrowly

It won't be people choosing greens fault as is being peddled, labour have runa a negative campaign throughout rather thanreally push Angelika as a person or her cpu cil achievements.

Ultimately though it will be the labour NEC and Starmer for running scared of Andy Burnham that has potentailly seen a safe seat go under.

I think there are genuine differences now as well. Remember when Twitter started revealing the locations of particular accounts and it turned out that loads of MAGA accounts and far right accounts were based in places like Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe? That wasn't government interference, that was genuinely individuals from those countries realising they can make a decent wage from spamming racist bullshit online. I suspect you'd see a lot of this 'London has fallen' AI wank also not coming from states, but coming from individuals looking for an easy payday. That sort of thing is unique to social media and is arguably a completely different threat than anything we've had before.

I saw a recent survey that studied the use of bots. It found that only 5% of surveyed pro-Reform posts were made by people. The remainder were made by bots. The intention was stated to be 'to generate feelings of mass support.'
I imagine that feeling you are not on your own in supporting a party is an important driver for votes, and it demonstrates the highly manipulative age we are in.

Seen four street sweepers in the last week cleaning the roads.

Making the place look all clean for the cameras are we Labour Council?

I hadn't seen a single street sweeper in the last 4 months prior to this week and the streets are always filled with dead leaves and rubbish.
