Old Maine Road photos thread

He's a proud man, too proud sometimes.

All adopted kids want to know where they come from?

His wider family didn't tell him until he was 43 He was his first born but let's just say my dad wasn't convenient for an already married man in 1950.

He's still going at 75 this year and a dead ringer for him. Hands like shovels, but that's all he shares with an incredibly arrogant man who didn't want to know him when he made contact, despite the best efforts of Ken Barnes down the years.
Sorry to read that. Heroes are not always as you think.
It seems it was not a one off with BT neither, wasn’t he estranged from his daughter until very late in his life?

If it’s the match I think it is:

CITY 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 3 played on 25th September 1976. The scorers
City Tueart(7) united Coppell(15), McCreery(25), Daly(69)

City Corrigan, Donachie, Docherty, Doyle, Watson, Keegan, Kidd, Power, Royle, Hartford, Tueart – sub Booth(83)

United Stepney, Nicholl, Houston, Daly, Buchan, Greenhoff, Coppell, McIlroy, Pearson, Macari, Hill – sub McCreery(10)

I’d walk a mile and a bit to shove your face in some shit, Oh, peeeee-eeeearson.

I was a small child at that time so I may have got the words wrong. Apologies if I have.

Thank you. Yep. Circumstances are maybe a little different, in that he certainly wouldn't have been able to remain at City/married or even remain the UK, in regards to the scandal fathering my dad would have undoubtedly resulted in.

An arrogant, despicable man.

When that minutes silence took place, we were stood with my dad at the Etihad. He just sighed when it ended.

Our family look at it very differently. If it hadn't turned out the way it did, then the generations that followed my dad building his own family would not have existed either.

My dad has been with my mum 52 years, always provided for his family, even with little money to spare. I have two children he absolutely idolises and goes to the games with.

My son has offers this year from some truly elite universities to study Economics, which gives all our family the validation if it ever were needed, that you can be dealt a shit sandwich in life but being a true dad, rather than just a father, can impact future generations for years to come.

The more I read your posts and the more I think about it, you really need to write a book about this. It's fascinating(I'm not trivialising what your dad went through when saying that) and it's a book I'd definitely buy. Maybe it's not something you'd want the world to know, but it's a story many people would want to hear. Great news on your son btw.

That fa youth cup final pic must be 1979/80 season.
We lost 3-1 at home to Aston Villa...winning the away leg 0-1,losing 3-2 on aggregate.

The photo shows,I think,Adrian Heath , celebrating a Villa goal, whilst both Tommy Caton and Alex Williams look....sadly,dejected.
Edit: just checked,it can't be Heath, ashe was at Stoke City at The time..looks a bit like him tho

Trevor Ames celebrates after scoring one of his three goals for Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup Final 1st leg between Manchester City and Aston Villa at Maine Road in Manchester, 21st April 1980. Mark Walters was in that villa team.
