VAR Discussion Thread

Can’t believe that ‘push’ on Gabriel. Especially when Ekitike got away with the same thing at Spurs on Romero earlier in the season. One a lot worse too.

Kolo Muani has touched his back - not pushed - and Gabriel has gone down like a sack of shit.

Really, really weak refereeing and even weaker VAR officiating.

100% agree. Exaggeration is cheating and should be an offence that overturns any “foul” given in their favour.

It's not weakness it's score manipulation.

Didn't know where else to put this.
Player must stay off the pitch for at least a minute if the trainers come on.

Following the success of the eight-second rule for goalkeepers holding the ball, new countdown measures are set to be approved.

A similar process will be added to goal-kicks and throw-ins, with possession changing to the opposition if it takes too long.

A 10-second limit will also be applied to substituted players - if they do not get off the pitch the replacement will not be allowed to come on.

A team would have to play with 10 players until the next stoppage, and that must be after at least 60 seconds.

Ifab is expected to approve video assistant referee reviews for wrongly awarded second yellow cards and, as a competition opt-in, corners.

The Canadian Premier League is also likely to be granted permission to start trials of Arsene Wenger's daylight offside. “

Interesting stuff. VAR will struggle until Stockley Parkers learn how to count.

I can only assume the VAR was busy dunking his Chocolate Hobnob in his brew at this precise moment.

There is no other explanation for this 'total lapse of concentration...'

Dermot won't like this.
He's got a bee in his bonnet about players not having eyes on the ball as they go to challenge someone.

Err sorry, excuse me, i meant he's got a bee in his bonnet about 'Manchester City players' not having their eyes on the ball as they go to challenge someone.

Despot Dermot is a swivel-eyed loon.

Gabriel gets away with this on a weekly basis.

If he played for us it would be "tactical fouling"

I see it hasn't taken long for the PL's SAOT system to become a complete mess. What a surprise.

It's all nonsense. Referees know when players are wasting time. Just apply the rules as they are. If they don't know when players are wasting time, or know how to enforce the rules then they are awful referees. Is that what IFAB are suggesting?

Bit unfair that the team that kick shit out of you still have 11 players when your down to 10.

The daylight one for offsides should never ever come in! More teams now will just sit deeper! It’s like it’s been brought in just for the high line football! The 5 second for throw ins and goal kicks is good! As always will it be fairly enforced?

Law changes confirmed:
VAR for corners and 2nd yellows
5-sec countdown on throws and goal-kicks
10-sec countdown on subs
As revealed, players off for 1 min on an injury
Wenger's "daylight" offside trials for Canada from April

Stockley Park are already getting their expensive graphics ready to provide the evidence that Haaland was definitely offside when Wenger’s daylight rule comes in.
