Was it something that needed to be done to protect the suffering, oppressed people of Iran who themselves were pleading for international intervention? - probably.

Just to point out the suffering Palestinians have been putting up with is much worse and for far longer and we do doodly squat, although I won't denigrate the Iranian hardships. It should be remembered that sanctions going on for decades have been punitive. It's not just the mullahs. See Cuba.

If they were client states in a Chinese centric world. And we were China's sworn enemy. Was just trying to put myself and some others in a situation akin to what Iranians have been putting up with for decades.

A good question is why does the US continue to appease Russia? If the US can bring Russia into the fold somehow then the Chinese economy is completely isolated or at least it stalls by its needs. We saw this happen in Europe with natural gas and the Ukraine war.

The US is now the 4th biggest domestic oil producer, oil supply will become constrained by this war, oil price goes up and major countries may have to get their oil elsewhere... Join the dots.

Been a while since US was 4th biggest oil producer, they’ve been the world’s biggest oil producing nation for quite some time.
