Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I've never been a big admirer of Dias and i have a feeling we won't get ballon dor lvl Rodri back. I rate Guehi, he is a very clever and intelligent defender with decent pace and Donnarumma is a very good shot stopper. Haaland is one of the best goal scorers, but not that good overall. All in all, this team needs some very good players in and huge improvements from some players.
You have to work with what you have got. However, Cherki is really good.....He is forcing movement from players that we have not had in a long time.

We brought this on.

Stop with the crying for a penalty that if ever given against us we'd lose our minds over saying yet again we were cheated.

We deserve to drop points when we play like we've had our balls lopped off at the half

Lax, complacent - no real sign that it mattered.

Erl if not 100% should not have started.

Phil playing like he's scared of his own shadow and making mistakes all over the shop. Swagger is gone. Belief is gone. Gutted it's going that way for him.

Bernie with about the most fight along with Rodri and Guehi.

Will miss that little underrated bastard when he inevitably leaves and realize if he had even a half yard more pace he'd be mentioned amongst the current and recent greats.

Cherki and Semenyo good for the most part. No serious slag except I'd like to see Cherki trying less to win fouls with his "roll like a Brazilian" then pop right up technique.

RAN a few decent spells. Looking more confident but still convinced the best in him would be seen in a 3 center half set up.

Donna beaten by a brilliant MGW blind back flick and great Elliot Anderson strike so can't 100% call him out for not making the stops when it wasn't him who put him in that position to have to make them.

Too little to rate Doku and really wasn't on long enough to get up to speed... If he's even up to speed.

Putting on Savinho when we were desperate for a goal is a cue to collect your things and leave early doors. He's not good enough and how Marmoush wasn't a better option even in his poor vein of form makes me wonder.

Dias still looks like he's miles off his old best and that once Gvad is back he's easily 3-4th choice.

Nunes well off it- can't put a finger on it and, no- I'm not rewatching that match.

I prolly left somebody out but TBH i couldn't be arsed as I'm tired of the lack of effort and equally tired of the fans who can still come away from this one and first sentiments uttered are "it wasnt our fault."

Bottom line to win the title:
1) win all games,
2) Arse have even a draw in the rest of theirs which I fully expect...

City are champions.

caveat:

We have to beat Arsenal.
Positive. Still all to play for on 4 fronts .

Not over yet but a silly match to drop points in. Wish we had more killers in this team. Still waiting for Haaland to actually deliver in the business end of the season

Very few, if any positives from that. To me this was the evening when it could swing our way, but posession counts for nothing and we looked toothless.

Haaland used to score for fun, now he's struggling, very few chances are coming his way but equally I think he's out of form. Phil is sadly miles off the pace.

We signed very good players, but over the last few years we have seen some of the best players ever to put on a City shirt leave the club. That's football, but despite my reservations, I still think there are twists to come.
agre with your first two points

but the last point is where people are fooling themselves...we havent signed really good players or at least they arent really good yet....no consistency in performance even within a single game

Semenyo - scores goals and does this well BUT doesnt add much else in games - he is a moments player.....we cant have him and Haaland doing that.
Cherki...sets up a goal then disappears for the rest of the match (Reijnders is also like this)
RAN - good going forward but doesnt stop crosses.
Nunes - has truedn into a good defender but does very little with the ball when going forward and our system needs that at present.
Dias is slow and makes out back line vulnerable....great organiser/leader etc but one on one is vunerable and clumsy at timess

Frustrating but it's not over. Tonight should serve as a reminder to Arsenal that the teams down there are fighting like hell to stay up.

Thought we deserved more than what we got. Forest just produced two moments of outrageous quality. Thought our display was fine.

Not seen any of the penalty calls on highlights but they seemed a bit desperate. Hopefully that's not a sign of the mentality and mindset of this team.

Long way to go. Win our game in hand and beat Arsenal and it's back down to one point. Long way to go and lots of football still to be played.

Did you see Pep and the players at the final whistle ?? Pep straight down the tunnel, one hand in his pocket, looking cheesed off .... the players barely offering handshakes, nobody smiling, just looking down ..... they all knew what tonight's results meant, and especially our own result .... the seasons games are now fast running out, and only an unlikely Arsenal collapse is gonna open the door again.
Yes we should all be disappointed. Half the ground didn't even realise the game had finished because we were all still amazed we didn't score in that last attack and it was a mad game were they scored two goals out of pretty much nothing but some sloppiness from us. Be disappointed tonight . Put your big boy pants on tomorrow

Indeed but it's down to him to look at the players he has and understand if they can carry out what he wants or not and then make adjustments to how we go about things if they can't.

But maybe that's too much to ask. Every manager has the way they like to play and that's pretty much set in stone. That's not a bad thing, the last think you want is an indecisive manager.

The reality is that I think even if we adopted an approach that our players would seem more suited to, it wouldn't guarantee anything because I think the depth of our current squad only makes us good enough to be about where we already are. One might argue its only Pep's presence and know now making us contenders still. We won't know until Pep has gone.

With or without Pep, we need some more added quality and I mean real world class quality, not just good solid players picked off from other clubs lower down the league.
Anderson looks to be top quality. We will see post season .

Caring about the fact they lost after we drew a game just makes us sound like a tin pot club

Couldn't give a fuck if they won or lost when we've been far more successful than them for two decades.
Nah. It's still funny when they lose. It's hard to shake that 80s, 90s and 00s pain that everyone of us had to go through at school, college and work.

And why won't pep play Nico G ? Not even getting off the bench recently
That's the Pep way mate, some players will go several games without getting a sniff for some inexplicable reason, it happened with Marmoush earlier in the season, it's Nico G and Reijnders's turn now.

ABSOLUTE FUCKING DISGRACE ONCE AGAIN. SAID IT LAST WEEK THERES FUCK CHANCE WE ARE WINNING THIS TITLE AS LONG AS PGMOL EXIST AND THAT FURTHERS MY POINT. 2 ABSOLUTE STONE WALL PENALTIES DENIED. ADDS 1 EXTRA MINUTE WHEN THE BALL WAS IN PLAY ABOUT 2 MINS OF THE 7. FUCKING JOKE. PEP NEEDS TO COME OUT AND FUCKING BERATE THE CORRUPTION OF THIS FUCKING TERRIBLE ORGANISATION OF A FOOTBALL LEAGUE. ITS A JOKE
Don't sit on the fence lad.
Spit it out.......

We haven't just signed Dias...

Can’t believe we had 2 subs spare with players like Marmoush and Reijnders on the bench and don’t use them. Just bizarre.

Fans over estimate this teams quality....its steps below previous in most positions on the pitch. Baring guehi and donarumma i don't think any single one of our purchases over the last two or 3 transfer windows has been of elite quality...not one of them...cherki could be but ain't at present
Semenyo isn't the total package but has freely scored important goals. Khusanov is young but has huge upside. Reis has impressed on loan.
Jury's out on the rest.
I think our business has been decent if not spectacular.

Keep seeing this about Arsenal being bottlers, but we've got within a couple points twice now this season and fluffed our lines. Once in the New Year when we drew 3 in a row and tonight. Maybe its us who ain't got the minerals at the moment?
No , we just havent got the quality we have had in the past , spurs away and tonight would never have been draws with likes of prime Stones and KDB in our teams , we have previously always been able to see games out , but we struggle to keep clean sheets , tbf Forest scored two really good goals tonight.
Ait Nouri could have stopped the cross for the first goal and Anderson should have been closed down but two brilliant finishes

Out of the match, had a few but that stinks of the last 18 months worth of disappointments. We aren’t wining single thing this season. We don’t have the mentality and haven’t for a long long time now.

Demoralising, pitiful and embarrassing performance.
Just a bit OTT ffs
