Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Probably the first time I've felt that a defeat like this is all on pep, overthinking on tactics yet again.pissed off tonight, roll on Saturday.

Real was great after the 2-0. We were shit with only Kushanov scoring a 7-plus. Probably the only change Pep got right tonight.

Seriously there’s nothing to see for us in the Chimps League this year. Let alone if we pull off a miracle vs Real to face Bayern next.

No positives from tonight, none. Another pathetic team selection and tactical setup, utter managerial madness. Sometimes that catalan chip on Pep's shoulder skews his thinking. When Haaland plays like that you have to wonder who would cough up £100m++, maybe Barca. When the team is really struggling he does absolutely nothing to try to change the momentum, nothing. Annoyed and pissed off Ive forked out for the second leg which will probably end just like last years pummeling by Real. Savinho FFS at the Bernabéu, up there with dropping Rodri and Ferna in Porto.

I can understand going for them from the off - in fact, those balls rolling across their 6-yard box justified doing so. A couple of those go in and it's a different story.

What is difficult to take though, and this has been the case for nearly 18 months now, is the total lack of adaptability from the coaching side.

The players were looking at each other thinking that something needed to change. They mostly weren't performing, it's true, but they were looking for guidance and there was no sign of it.

O'Reilly is not a left back, how many more times will Pep insist on playing players out of position?
Haaland did absolutely nothing again, Doku put in some good passes across the goal and Haaland was nowhere to be seen.

Have we sacked our set piece coach yet.

Sums up the too comfortable, 3rd rate coaches who are probably all “yes” men to Pep that he is still employed. Dippers, Arsenal, Rags etc would all probably have scored tonight from the amount we had and most of ours hit the first defender.

We just look really badly coached the last few seasons, shambolic defending, awful final 3rd play etc.
Well Arsenal’s at piece tactics were nullified by having a referee they only drew due to a gift of a penalty

Not the one I initially responded to, hasn't.

Keep up.
I’m a few pages behind I do apologise. Personally I think Pep has earned the right to make the decision to go himself. If he won’t though he can’t go on forever and the idea that he is totally irreplaceable is bollocks. No one is

As someone else has said, tonight was the perfect chance to play Gonzalez, Rodri and O’Reilly together in midfield. Keep it controlled, win the transitions and hit them on the break. Pep’s team was suicide, struggling to come to terms with his thought process.

Courtois just confirmed it in his post match when he says they’ve struggled to break teams down this season, that they were looking forward to having space to play in. Fuckin naive

As I said on an earlier post, Rodders summed it up for me, I kept pointing it out to the guys I was watching with, his head was down the whole second half, properly pissed off. Wasn’t good body language.
I agree and it's not acceptable.

I also think Pep left him hung out to dry with that team selection, it was a baldy midfield.

All tactics change to try and look after Vinicius Junior...Madness.

I've been saying it for a long time now, if people actually think that these players are playing for their manager they are fooling themselves.
