Play to him is generally too slow. One of the precious few one-touch passes was Cherki’s through ball, but Haaland just couldn’t get enough power on the shot.

He set up semenyo. Is that fuck all? The haaland haters completely ignore that every time he gets the ball he does something forward thinking. Every time. He fucking hates playing this way. And it's a waste. Yes, he scored goals before, it's not that we don't occasionally create chances.
 
Building the system and success of one of the biggest football clubs in the world on the play of one man is flawed.

We clearly see this now.

He's scored slightly under his xg 3 seasons running. We're unusually good at creating chances.

No team on earth is getting him 60 goals.

He's (until recently) a composed and clinical finisher he just doesn't have the individual all round game to score 60 goals, which is obviously not a massive criticism.

Not getting enough service. No pass over or through for him to run on to. Obviously off form as well but there is mitigation

Calvert-Lewin would be disappointed with that goal return and performance over the past 15 games

Ok then ignoring XG how does Erling score 60 for someone else?

Based on what you've watched -

How do we not face a low block each week?
Should he come front post sometimes?
Should he peel away to the back post, beyond the width of the goal?
Does he win as many physical battles on the deck or in the air as much as he used to?
Is his movement incisive or unpredictable enough not to give the CDM an easy interception nearly every time?

Based on his skill set. Based on his ability to finish. Based on his incredible first 10 yards. Based on him scoring 50+ goals for us in one season already...when we used to play him in. Based on other leagues being less competitive.

Feel like most serious football clubs would be using xg vs actual goals as the way to measure ability to finish.

I think the issue with Haaland is based on even his most ardent supporters he's never going to look better than he did with prime Kev, prime Gundo, prime Phil, Prime Rodri. If you handpicked players from other teams you might not even come close.

So you say fine he's a senior player now, a leader, he'll add more to his game, and I think it's valid to ask how long we can do the "if Kev was still here" thing when Kev isn't here and another one isn't just around the corner.

There needs to be some way to be able to activate the best goalscorer of his generation while playing a low block, or it just doesn't work does it?
